This is an absolute guarantee, it will not matter in 5 years what happened when the kid was 10. Most of these kids, especially the ones being pushed hard and overly practicing, will simply not be the “best” at 15. The ones that are great now may not be great in 2 years. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Enjoy your kids success but keep it in perspective.
One thing will matter in 5 years:

which style of play they mastered when they were 10-12.

What how PDA can string together 1 and 2 yard passes with no end product? Scored maybe 4 goals all weekend. Don't put ball in back of net never be successful now or 5 years from now! But at 10 they mastered the art of a 2 yard pass keep it up.

Every team and coach can play a style that works for them. There is no one "right way to play". The anonymous dads that post based on what they Google will continue to rip these teams. Good job pda and mfs this weekend

            Funny observation....
MFS got ripped on this site for playing up, but only in 2nd flight, and won it, but that's not good enough.
PDA gets ripped for not scoring enough this weekend, up a year, because they connect short passes and don't score.

So confused what the expectation is. some of you people are awful

It’s been debated several times and agreed several times that there is no “right way” to play. Playing what works now may not work in 5 years. Versatility is what works, mastery of possession will work.

They are fighting with each other about stupidity.

What's works is it comes to down the individual player as they get older. Either you develop and grow along the way and have it or you don't later on pretty simple. If you don't then time to find something else to latch onto.

Couldn’t agree more. Sadly it’s very hard to know this unless you have experienced it. Although I will say things were not this crazy when my kids were this age. No one cared this much.

agreed. And it’s because of the proliferation of the academies. Let’s be honest. If academies were what they claim to be- a place where the truly elite players come to train and play, there wouldn’t be more than one in the state- maybe 2. And they would have maybe 1-2 teams at each age group.

Now that we have this ridiculous alphabet soup of academies all running 2-3 team at each age level, ALL of those parents paying upwards of $2500 a year for kids’ soccer are convinced they’re raising a future D1 commit and they’re over invested in their 10 year old’s soccer development. They’ve all been sold a bill of good by whatever academy got their hooks into them.

the academies have to compete for players because again, there’s a million of them, and so they stoke this ridiculous over investment by the parents. Hence the social media ridiculousness. It’s all about generating clients and taking them from the other academies. The more fired up and competitive the parents are, the more money the academies make.

every parent paying PDA Shore, MFA Shore, any of the 500 PSA / CSA clubs are all paying to fund the A teams at each academy’s flagship club (Zarapath for PDA, Morris for Matchfit, etc) with a few exceptions, they’d be better off playing for their local town team.

by u15, many of these kids have found other sports, burned out or just can’t take the pressure. It’s not worth it.

I’ve seen it with my own kids’ teammates. They get sold the academy bill of goods, throw away 3k a year to be on the B team of PDA shore, CSA, whoever…and then they realize they hate it and start jumping from team to team. They wind up never finding a home where they build a bond with their teammates and coaches and it becomes an activity that they can take or leave. The academies don’t care because the parents are a never ending source of cash, and when one leaves, three line up to take their place.

in NJ? PDA North Blue / White and CSA GA are the real deal. Everyone else is kidding themselves.

CSA GA? Interesting evaluation considering they are either dead last, or second to last at every age but 1 (and that team is only middle of the pack). STA is running much stronger teams.

okay, CSA GA at some age groups. And agree, STA is up there too, but only a few. The ridiculous number of STA teams out there dilutes their talent pool. STA Mount Olive, STA MUSC blah blah blah- you can’t have a million branches and claim to be developing elite players. The numbers don’t add up.

I know he lost at least one 2010 girl to MFS. Not like Tetro is a prize, but she jumped.
