Yes, the 2011 team does stand out as an exception. BUT. Several of the top girls came in just this year from other clubs where they developed. So, I guess in this case the recruiting started earlier than U13.

If MFS can recruit an entire 2011 team mid season and roster them one would think that was something in progress for years. Doesn’t happen over night.

What entire team did MFS recruit? In progress for years these girls were 9 at the time?

Just goes to show you that these ECNL clubs can not develop players. They just recruit them from the ones that can.

So if they come to an academy at 10 and stay until they are 16-18, they are done developing? They don't get better?

Most clubs aren't developing players, its on parents and kids. Clubs teach team concepts. The coach doesn't have time to work on your kids weaknesses as they have 13-16 other kids at practice

That is very true, you have to work on your own.

Agreed. Comes an age where, at a high level, the kids need to be doing MOST (not all) technical work outside. Yes there's a time and a place for it at practice, but team training should be mostly about team concepts.

Probably worse to come on boards and read the threads if you have no interest or no kids in this age bracket

HA, YES! I was actually thinking the same thing just now. I'm obviously here reading and have commented myself a few times, so no judgement on anyone else. But have actually found myself rather turned off by the sport over this last year, mainly because of the unnecessarily competitive, high pressure environment at the young ages like this. Partially the fault of the clubs & the their quest for $$, and partially on an unhealthy investment on the part of us parents on our kids. It's no wonder so many are burning out by 13. I mean, I won't discourage my kid if she wants to continue, but my heart also won't be broken if she doesn't.
