This thread will just turn into a debate but here is my 2 cents .There aren't many that are any good (at least in NJ) which is a problem for the girls side of things. Meredith Rooney is a good coach and trainer but can't keep a job. Becky from STA is really good but I heard she left there and is full time at Gotham FC as an assistant coach. Kelly Simms from STA is a good coach for the little ones but heard she is leaving STA also

These threads are so dumb. It's an excuse to praise or, more often, trash coaches. Even when a good one is recognized as such he/she probably isn't at a location or age group that works for your family or player. While it's great when female players can have good female coaches, the reality is they are pretty rare. If they're good they quickly get out of youth soccer (my D was lucky enough to have two great ones over 8 years. One coaches in college now, the other the pros). Just find a good coach regardless of gender.

- Keep asking, you're not asking the right ones. Most soccer people are more normal than you'd think from TS posters. TS is also a cesspool full of agendas so it's not necessarily a good source for information.
- If you get a name or two, ask to attend practices
- Go watch a few games to see how the coach works with players

The addiction problems is why Rooney and Danny A Game both couldnt keep jobs and had to start their own business. No club wanted them around their kids.

STA and ODP are the only places that I have seen female coaches. 12 years of soccer I have only seen female coaches at STA and ODP in the entire tri-state area. However lately I have seen quite a few female refs - which has been pretty cool.
