The team starts to fade because it’s not about developing players anymore
Coaches need to be trustworthy & have integrity.
This is the exact reason we will be leaving, enthusiasm has faded for my kids team, no longer - or maybe was even about developing, but has become apparent about recruiting, of trying to recruit or poach from other teams… my kids team has had 0 evaluations, 0 feedback…the team just shows up plays and leaves….that about sums it up. It’s not a team at all. Each player pretty much plays for themselves, maybe that’s why we can barely win a game….but hey the coach’s answer is to recruit players….and still can’t win…. maybe it’s something else? Like the coach, the atmosphere created, the morale, but it’s having negative impact do we are leaving.

If your player's confidence has tanked it's time to pull the plug and find a better fit for her skills and a more encouraging coach.

It takes a year but I’ve seen teams implode after they realize the initial effort to rally the troops doesn’t translate to results and leads to more talent loss.

It’s time to leave….When the guy who started the branch your kids is in has been at 4 clubs in 5 years leaving a heaping pile in his wake, gets caught on video putting a hit on a 12 year old girl opponent, just lost his best players from PA on his used car salesman pitch team, can’t train your kid to save his life, and spouts nothing but lies on top of lies…

stop drinking the koolaid people. Wake up!

They are getting ready to fly to Disney, spend thousands of dollars and they all know how stupid that is but do it anyway because they believed all that was sold to them.

I pulled my daughter from 2 teams in the past 3 years because of this. 3rd times a charm.
This year the kid loves playing & is playing really well. You have to gauge your kids happiness to know if a team is a good fit.
                      Good amount of field time.
do they come off the field alone or talking to friends?
Are they challenged but still excited to go back?
                      Good luck !

Soccer is a team sport with 11 players on the pitch. At the same time soccer development is an individual achievement. You may train with 20 teammates doing the same drills and learning the exact same skills and technical training. Yet, in that group you might have 3 players who excel above all the others. Then a middle group of 7-8 mid level players and then the rest. What do you do when your one of the top 3? It’s time to switch teams when your bored at training and not training in a competitive environment & not playing competitive games. That’s when it’s time to move to a new club/team.

Not always. Being a top player in one team doesn't necessarily mean a move up is warranted. Take too big a leap and your player risks being a benchwarmer with plummeting confidence.

Conversely if you kid is player 15-20 and doesn't play much, a step down may be warranted(depending on what else is out there and if it's a good fit, good coaching)

Or starts whining about going or makes excuses not to go. But you need to figure out if it's a fit issue or perhaps dwindling interest.
