Its just most disappointing. The kid plays all 60 min for us and he will be on a team with 17 kids.

And they fail to realize this is all done to benefit him and his club not their child. Once that realization sets in and once they see they are not receiving adequate training and begin to spend more and more on outside training they realize it’s not what it seems. Even the 09 team has only 3-4 originals on it. So now you burn a bridge with another coach/club to play for MFS and in a year your kid is replaced. Just look at his track record. Destroyed a boys team at CSA, left CSA taking two teams which they are rebuilding, destroyed the Toms River team, destroyed the MF Denville 11 & 09 teams because many parents didn’t want to deal with Shore bs and yet people think it will be different for their kid. Nothing you can do about it except wish them luck.

I'm sure this person will just say it's extra training and it's no big deal, but we've all heard the same song and dance before.
This I agree with. It’s the beginning of the season so if a parent is willing to go to a different club and “train” obviously doesn’t have any loyalty to his current coach or team. Do you really want that type of person on your team anyway??

Considering that one of the Toms River dads is now an MFS coach I would believe there was a lot more in it for certain people at Toms River and the rest of that team probably had no idea what was really going on.

Stop with all this recruiting crap.... its youth soccer.... everybody pays to play! Unless your club is allowing a kid to play for free or paying them... you should have no issue if they leave for another club. The parents are consumers and can rightfully choose to pay to play at another club.

Dumb statement. When a coach calls you or approaches you about bringing your kid over to their team or coming for training, that's called recruiting. A parent choosing to go to another team at the end of the year is acting like a consumer and there is no ill will when something like that happens.

Exactly. There are many reasons why MFS and specifically RT are not respected in this industry. his recruitment tactics are one of those reasons. Most club coaches have relationships with each other and even though they compete on the field they do have professionalism when it comes to recruiting. They would not steal players a few weeks into the season. As far as “pay to play” goes… we all know MFS does not have rosters full of paying players.

and the vast majority of the time it's the latter - parents looking to move their kids for different reasons. Club coaches are rarely out scouting the fields for talent or reaching out. Families leave, it's just how it works. Whether or not they leave for the right or wrong reasons is up for debate, but it isn't "poaching"

this thread isn’t about that though. The OP is clearly stating it is happening now and doesn’t know how to handle it. That is “poaching”.

Yes, but this is not what is happening with MFS and more specifically RT. He is actively approaching parents and coaches all year looking for them to bring their kid or team over to his branch. That is what recruiting looks like.

A parent moving their kid without that intervention is just the way of things and reasonable coaches/clubs agree.

It's so funny. People come on here and point out obvious, factual things and immediately they must be lying, have an axe to grind, or "the hate runs deep". I'm not the person you quoted, nor have I weighed in on this thread before now, but your statement is laughable. You and your brethren think that no one could possibly think ill of RT or MFS, and anyone that does is a hater.

Quite the opposite. The stuff posted on here about RT and MFS is completely true and is well known throughout NJ coaching circles. I personally don't care one lick about RT, but I've certainly heard from colleagues about him. I coach older boys and he'll never have an impact on me, but this type of situation has happened over and over again with other clubs and coaches. RT is just the latest in a long line of liars that further their own agendas by screwing over innocent kids, their parents, fellow coaches, and clubs.

Again, nothing that was written is untrue. It’s not an axe to grind, it’s confirming the truth.
