Just not anything we experience. And, since this is a Stars thread...why bring up GPS?

    Agenda?

The Stars practice/play at the Derryfield School in Manchester, decent fields.
Decent fields? Not really. I don't believe the turf is used much by the Stars teams.

TK is honest and fair. He is a solid coach. He is also not like the GPS coaches that yell constantly, and are belittling to the girls. He gives every player time to develop. He doesn't kiss any parental asses, if you don't like him, he probably didn't kiss your ass enough or you little Mia's ass. He does not have favorites, and that rubs some parents the wrong way.
He is not an honest guy - trust me. I'm sure he's done right by some people but I have seen a fair amount of FC Stars desperation recently - and underhanded and dishonest behavior by him. I stand by what I said.

As for kissing ass - not sure how that's relevant. If your kids any good - you don't need to kiss anyone's ass - especially his.

Solid Coach? Who needs a solid coach. If you want average you need a solid coach. If you want exceptional you need a coach who has coached (notice I didn't say played) and paid his dues with coaching education at the highest level. Once you've had that, you'll understand how foolish "solid coach" is!!!

And how naive can you be about favorites - "He does not have favorites" - bullocks? Of course he does!!!. EVERY coach whether a rec dad or Alex Ferguson has favorites - its human nature.

Thats pretty funny...nice about Mia - who's Mia? Good luck my friend...you'll need it if you are with TK...enjoy the mediocrity.

Mia = talking soccer jab is anyone's daughter who is above average in her parent's eyes, in reference to Mia Hamm.

So, what...you came to the site just to slam TK? Makes sense.

Be happy if you are in a program that you like. No reason to bring another down to match that level.

And, again, I'm not even in his program.

Can you give an example of this behavior? Those of us looking for tryout information need to know.

No offense, but coming to TS to get any real information that isn't agenda-driven is off the mark. Speak to them directly, watch a practice from afar, go to the tryouts and see how the interaction is.

I can tell right here you must be a GPS coach, "bullocks" You all think you are exceptional over there, coaches, players, parents. What a bunch of narcissists! Must get pretty pissy over there when the coach can't pick everyone to be his favorites! You know what? this is why we left GPS. It is not naive to think that somebody who is such an influence of my child's development (notice I did not say soccer development, I said development) should not pick favorites. Isn't that the first thing they teach in a coaching course? So much for your high level of coach education if you don't understand the basics of child development! If players can tell who your favorites are, you are a bad coach, bottom line. It does not foster team building, and you are not a coach I want for my player.

GPS where everyone is exceptional, and everyone is a favorite, makes for real pleasant sidelines.

This topic is confusing. What do you mean by "picking favorites"? Yes, I'm serious. Above it was written that coaches should not pick favorites... Then later it was a knock on GPS because "everyone is a favorite". I have to be honest, the argument makes no sense. By "picking favorites", do you mean than some may get picked for more training sessions (ie id programs, added practices, etc)? Not trying to be a jerk, trying to understand. We've been with 3 clubs over 10 years, there will always be "favorites" (I guess that's what you would call it... Although again, need clarification). The top players will ALWAYS receive perks or whatever. Guess what? That's life too!! That happens in clubs (ie elite teams may get more "extras", or at the team level, top 5 players get more "extras" than the bottom third). Also, the "favorite" may be the kid who comes to every single practice and busts his / her butt everyday. I have to say when I read posts like this it sounds a bit whiny to me.

I think you fell for the OP's joke when he used "bullocks" in his post and Alex Ferguson as an example. If he truly were a Brit, and a GPS coach, he would have spelled favorite as favourite.

As for the topic of this thread, I only know TK in passing. He seems to be a good guy, and based on the number of teams he's added in a short time, an excellent recruiter. I'm not sure how good he is at development though, the only Stars teams that are having success are the ones he recruited from other clubs. The organic teams seem to be struggling in the lower divisions of the NEP.

Good catch. I had a similar thought as well. More GPS-slamming on TS, it's typical. Someone could write about how much they love salmon, and it wind it's way toward negative GPS press...

Stars in NH is still fairly new, so it may be a bit early to judge them overall. They are (I think) growing organically vs. acquisition, so they have a longer road to go. To be sure, in due time it won't be Seacoast and GPS for much longer. As World Cup seems to be dying off (from my inside and outside information), Stars and now NEFC have the backings to be a thorn in the side of the other big two.

I don't know, Stars and NEFC seem to be uniform providers, not doing much to enhance coaching or player training.

NEFC is 100% providing coaching training to the NH program. I believe that to be the case with Stars, but cannot confirm.
