This year nobody under junior year except one on the team. Too bad his son is not good enough to make a team that his dad does not coach.
In his son's defense, he does try hard but trying hard does not make you more talented. I feel bad that this is being said but you opened it up by saying that noone has a problem and ask other parents about him.
Too bad that you made it come to that. Why don't you ask people outside of your circle and try to get an honest answer. We are on the sidelines and hear it week after week. Maybe you need your ears checked or try moving up and down the sidelines and listening!!!!!
I have an idea, why don't you and your posse of haters try watching a game instead of whining all the time.

What the heck is the matter with you? You feel good about yourself sitting behind your computer critiquing a player because you don't like his Dad? People like you make youth sports miserable for the rest of us.

I do agree, this person has a big issue, but ignore it and your soccer time will be fine!

          Bad news

I have it on good authority that the NHIAA has been informed about what is really going on (including the sneaky things this coach is doing to "not" break the rules) and they have begun an investigation. I sincerely hope this doesn't penalize the program. Yikes!!

Well, since he is not breaking the rules, then this won't be a problem.

Not to mention you are full of it.

                New name?

Geez, why don't we just rename the NH talking soccer site to "talking Todd Ellis"?

How can one person be so inflaming and polarizing?

Other than cutting little Landon Donovan I have no idea what he's done. But this stuff is a lot of fun to read so I hope the whackos keep posting.

Who is Todd Ellis, what are his crimes against soccer, and how come you Londonderry folks get so spun up, so easily??

Do you really think he would risk breaking rules with the NHIAA? Really. Think about it. He's not breaking any rules by coaching HS soccer. He would be in violation next spring if he coached where more than 25% of the players on his travel team had played HS soccer - jv or varsity. He has it covered - bringing in not one, but likely 2 new coaches to train the boys after the season is over. Of the 8 town players who played last spring, 4 are currently playing varsity / jv. Actually 4 since one quit, one isn't playing due to injury, and 2 didn't try out. Assuming those 4 all play in the spring, there is no violation.

Many people don't like him for whatever reason. Is it a conflict of interest that he's coaching HS and coaches a town travel team? Maybe, but it is what it is. The job was posted over the summer and many applied. Those same many never even got a phone call so of course the AD had no intention of interviewing anybody else, but the AD and coach are former colleagues and friends and that's what friends do for each other, so don't go refuting it because you would do the same for your former colleague and friend. There's no law that says you can't. That's just how it is. It's who you know, not what you know. But that applies to all of Londonderry, not just soccer.

Just enjoy the game and watching your child play, wherever he or she may be playing.

Please don't state opinions as truths. I know that at least 5 people were interviewed for that position. 2 or 3 went to a the panel interview. Not everyone who applies gets a call, but londonderry is always thorough in their interview process.

And of all those interviewed, none were more qualified than he?

This is where the "who you know" trumped "what you know".

This is great. Two posts ago you (most likely) wrote out a comment which in part read:

Next post is calling you out on your comment that no one else was interviewed as apparently that's untrue. Now you're back to shifting those goal posts to others being more qualified and it's all about who you know, etc... Nice try!

I don't know why they're so concerned about the hiring process. No matter who got the job their kid still would have been cut.

Yes, the point is he was more qualified than the others.
