Your right my oversight. Not sure Maple will big a big draw either, but it should be able to deliver better competition than NHSL.

Some WC teams already play in Maple, and yes the competition is much better than NHSL

MAPLE and NEP are the same. Don't let anyone fool you. Top levels have good teams in both. Bottom levels not so good for both.

Agreed! But teams can play in Maple without needing to be voted in by competitors with ulterior motives. Maple is political, but not nearly as much as NEP. So if the competition is comparable, isn't WC better off there than NEP??

It may be political, but it does keep smaller programs out...is that bad?

Yes if it does so regardless of the ability of the small club's teams. It promotes the certain death of strong town teams, which is a huge disservice to NH soccer in general. Basically, NEP wants only players who can afford to play for the big, expensive, for-profit clubs to play in their "premier" league. Those who can't afford to or live too far from these big clubs are discriminated against. This is why NEP is an elitist, discriminatory bunch!

I think a club like NWC has enough history and success that they should be allowed in and I'm sure there are countless clubs in Mass that would fit that description too.

My kid plays NEP and I do like the competition it provides, but I don't see how allowing all clubs the opportunity to join would hurt it.

I agree that top NEP and MAPLE divisions will be fairly equal, but NH will loose players to clubs in NEP because of the NPL/ENCL/DAP etc. that these teams have a connection with. MAPLE has nothing but itself to drawn on and NHSL is second fiddle to the rest.

The more talented players in NH now have these teams as an avenue to progress. US Club is becoming the premier soccer organization in the US and parents will move thier kids to these clubs for the promise of better competition or reaching the top leagues in the nation.

As the years go by these talented players will leave the townclubs playing NHSL/MAPLE at younger and younger ages watering down the competition level in NH.

What is happening here is not an argument between leagues. Its the organizational breakdown in US Soccer and these super clubs taking advantage of players and parents.

WC will struggle keeping their top players if they can only offer MAPLE, State Cup, Region 1 (maybe) and local tournaments as their development program when the super clubs a few miles down the road can get you into the top premier league in the nation.

Tough road to climb, MAPLE vs NPL?, MAPLE vs ENCL? MAPLE vs DAP?
Easier road to climb, MAPLE vs NEP, unless playing on a NEP teams gets you into NPL, ENCL, etc.

Well written... I'm not completely sold on NPL being that big a draw for players yet. The club itself may be a draw but I think little has to do with NPL.

Actually I think WC has all the qualifications to join NEP. They have the level of coaching, they have team depth, and they have teams that are competitive. I would be surprised if NEP would not let them in.

Of course this all depends on WC who internally looks down on NEP.

I would agree with you that WC should have no issues meeting the requirements. I think the internal reference you make is that they have a higher up that is on the NHSA board which is all about USYSA.

I agree about NPL waiting to see what develops, but it is getting a lot of momentum from clubs around the US. I think it will gain quick ground here in New England.

If you can not get into DAP, NPL is the next step down, then NEP/MAPLE Premiership/Div 1 is after that. (Boy side of course) This will drive the NPL appeal.

The other clubs decide if WC meets the requirement, and WC can not get in. This has nothing to do with NHSA if WC could get in to the NEP they would be already. They can't because the other clubs have purposely excluded them.
