The coach of the Seacoast Team in my daughters age group called several players from our team in the last month, and had some of them come to trainings. There is a parent from that team that smoozes with opposing team parents and tells them how much she loves their player, and then gets their contact info. This is just sleazy. Not a fan,there are rules in place to prevent recruiting in season, but Seacoast doesn't need to follow the rules.Comment

I am not accusing. It is a fact, it happened to me. I thought it was the strangest thing. I don't need to give more information to prove it to anyone. I am naive to think that at the end of the day youth sports should be about sportsmanship. I just thought if your program is that good, why are these players yelling at each other. Why is the coach breaking the rules. why aren't you happy with the team you have. Or is it that you have to break up teams you compete against, so you have no real competition? Seacoast is notorious, at least on the girls side, of approaching players on rival teams. It's sleezy and underhanded but at the end of the day it's how Seacoast operates. Seacoast does a great job of convincing parents that they're the only game in town and that if your daughter wants to play at the next level then Seacoast is the only way to get there in NH. This is not true. That said, I guess if the players on your daughter's team are truly happy then they won't leave. This certainly isn't unique to Seacoast. In fact Seacoast has lost many players on the girls side to FC Stars of Mass. I've seen their recruiting first hand. A lot of this stuff goes on in the background but in the end, the clubs are just promoting their programs. It's the players and parents who decide to change if they see value there. So you're really this upset over Seacoast encouraging new talent to come try out? Kudos to your daughter that she was being asked. I see nothing wrong with this. Opportunities and options are a good thing. You can always just decline. Tryouts are early this year for most clubs- even before their seasons are completed. Not sure what you mention regarding players yelling at eachother? Players get heated sometimes and they are still kids but how would you know the relationships or dynamics of a team or club you don't play for? Interesting judgement there. Choices are always good during a tryout season and people make decisions on many factors. But it's the families decisions not the club's fault. I am sure that your club had other players from other clubs join a practice or training or your coach made a phone call at some point. I am sure parents of competitive players are looking at gotsoccer rankings online, the leagues teams play in and feedback on value of options. Seeking out new interest especially with moving up to 11v11 roster is not a bad thing to keep teams and programs viable and competitive. These are for profit clubs promoting the soccer programs they have to prospective parents of players they would like to have in their club. It's very straight forward and part of the landscape. Some people may not like losing good players from their team but to call it underhanded or somehow cheating is inaccurate and sounds like sour grapes. Our team has lost quite a few good players to other clubs. Did we like it? No. Did they have that right? Yes, and honestly good luck to them. And if as you say it started at U-little, then it's the parents that made the decision to change looking at what's best in their minds for their child. Well said. I agree that this person is sour grapes. That is why they will not provide the club or team. They probably just have a vendetta against the other club. The right way to proceed would be to get the correct information out there to be addressed if there were some wrong doing being done. You don;t need to give any personal info. Just the team and club.Comment

First of all it is against the rules set forth in the leagues. Secondly none of our players left. I know it is up to their families and I don't begrudge the parents for seeing what is out there. It is not sour grapes, I think it is sleazy. We are not moving up to 11 v 11 we already are, this has been happening for years, like I said. It happened to us for the first time this year.Comment
