I can't believe they are that much in debt considering how much money they've collected. There either has been outright fraud or just massive incompetence. I feel bad for the parents who signed up.

I am no lawyer, but as a non-profit wouldn't the whole board be responsible?

There is some responsibility that stretches among all board members but it depends on how the bylaws are written as to who has the fiscal responsibilities to the club. I have no knowledge of their bylaws but most clubs the Presdient and Treasurer share this duty, but should have been reporting to the board and club.

I am an SZ United parent as well (soon to be an X SZ United parent). But in my opinion based on the information we were told the night of the "information meeting" which was pointless (I could make a power point presentation that didn't give any information too). The only thing they did let us know is that they are awful with money and paying bills. In case you weren't there lets recap they have $6500 in their bank account. Bills that are outstanding SportsZone owed $24,000 (which they want to dispute but do the math fields at $175 an hour for 3 hours a day 5 days a week for 10+ weeks then add in 7 teams playing sessions 1 & 2 of indoor at roughly $600 a team), then PMA is owed $7,000 for field time from fall usage, Sulley's Soccer is owed $4000 for uniforms, and lets not forget that payment has not been made yet (doesn't get billed until May) for league play for the spring estimating at least another $5,000. Now moving onto spring outdoor they are still searching for fields to play on even though they claim "We can play in Fremont for free" (not buying that can we remember that we supposedly had a deal at SZ but yet there is an outstanding bill) I don't know why they are reaching out to a bunch of towns to see if they can use fields. Basically all it showed was that they are going to have to come back to the parents for more money (even though Patrick's email says this 1 time payment of $100).

As for you as a volunteer I have a question for you. Were you aware of the financial situation if no then I think you would have a right to be upset and be negative (I know I am), if you were aware you should be ashamed of yourself for not looking out for the best interest of the 100 kids.

Truth of the matter is the club let down 100 CHILDREN WHO JUST WANT TO PLAY A GAME AND BE WITH THEIR FRIENDS.

This is really a shame. In debt by 31,000 is not that dramatic, it comes to 350 per player (if 100 is the count), which is reasonable cost to play travel in NH. Not sure what they charge, but if coaches or officers of the club have been paid and these other entities have not, seems like trouble. Not sure how SZ will survive this.

Wow they are in a hole! Take out the 24K and future 5K and they are still in an 11K hole from the fall that should have already been paid for. Play for "free"? How does any town allow an outside team to come in and play for "Free". Tax dollars go to maintain town fields. Soccer destroys fields that need to be repaired yearly/seasonally. I don't see tax payers keeping quiet and just allowing others to use their fields while they keep paying to maintain them. Sounds unrealistic.

I heard that too but again who controlled the check book to front him the money? Not only that but he was fronted the money because of an agreement that was made by Manny, Matt, and Patrick. Agreement was for every sponsor (that donated a certain amount of money) they brought in they got a kick back. Matt and Patrick didn't take their portion but if the club wasn't in financial ruins from the beginning would they still not have taken it? My opinion I believe they would have otherwise was the agreement even made. Because after all that was money that was supposed to go to the kids!

Anyone else have kids who play in the Manchester Basketball league? Both of my kids' coaches emailed us this week and said that the Sports Zone has reneged on their agreement with the league to hold their playoffs their and now the league is scrambling to find enough courts to host the playoffs. It's unfortunate to see that the new management isn't all that different from the old management when it comes to customer service.

We were already paying aprox. $1200 for the year, so I do think adding another $350 on is dramatic.

Sorry I miss led you on my point. I was just looking at the total debt cost and divided up by each player, assuming this is about what you paid for a premier club.

I agree if they ask you to divy up another $350, that would be unreasonable.

If you were only paying $350 for the year that is reasonable for the travel clubs in NH (at least when my kid played a few years ago. Probably higher now).

Premier clubs are asking $1200 - $2500 in NH. So you would have been on the low side to begin with.

Most of the sz teams are younger so 2500 is not even close to what premier clubs charge! 1200 is about right for u13. U11 is closer to 1000

I would have to agree with the lower prices for younger teams. My kids play travel U8 and U10 in NH and pay between $800-$1000 for the year and my Nephew plays U16 Premier and pays $2300 for his year (of course he trains 5 days a week). Good Luck with all this!

Why would anyone"front" money to someone, unless it was agreed upon at the outset? This sounds like a typical "Obama distraction". Anything to take the heat off of the real culprits.

it doesn't sound like a customer service issue. I heard that matt gave a really low ball price to msbl and the owner wanted to charge a small admission for spectators, but msbl said no to that. Spectators pay to view sporting events. Go figure.
