    SZ & Sportszone

I hear ML is gone from SZ. Any truth? That mean anything for that new club?
A few Derry parents had pretty broad smiles when they told me the rumor.

In any event ML was always nice to our teams and good luck to him.

    Thoughts.

M&J were great guys. Don't know the issues but they will be missed. Good luck to the both of them.

I was always unimpressed with the customer service we received at the SportsZone. That place is a cash cow and hopefully the new management will not screw over their customers as much.

Don't know how you know Sz United is no more, is that wishful thinking?
The only Derry parents with a smile are from the town team. I hear the people involved in that club are vindictive and Nasty. Any truth to that?
Manny in charge of SZ? Good luck SportsZone.

The SZ united payers committed for a year, right? So they must be at least finishing off the Spring season... Right?

                Hello,

I hope this message finds you well and your new year is off to a great start.

For those that do not know me, my name is Patrick Mulcahy and I am the Director of Training for SZ United.

The purpose of this email is to bring everyone up to speed on the latest events that have transpired the past few days at both the Derry SportsZone and with SZ United.

Unfortunately club president Matt Lewis is no longer employed by the SportsZone so I understand there's a lot of questions, confusion and speculation swirling around.

Matt has been absolutely instrumental in the creation and growth of this club and has utilized all his resources to provide the SZ United families a 1st class soccer club at an affordable price.

With Matt unfortunately no longer working at the SportsZone, we have lost some of those luxuries and flexibilities we have been extremely lucky to have passed on to you in terms of the fields, times, prices, etc.

The plan of attack for the remaining part of the winter and spring, as well as going forward, is to continue providing this professionally run soccer club for your child and keep things as "normal" as possible.

Regrettably though, we need to please collect an additional $100 per player to cover the very expensive field costs associated with the indoor training until we are able to move outside.

I am fully aware this was not in the original agreement but as we all know, unfortunate events do happen. As a club, we are adapting as quickly as possible in a way to try and keep things as status quo as possible.

We are asking parents to please understand these unfortunate events and to know that this will be the 1st and last time you will be asked for additional money. We understand this is not ideal and are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but we are doing everything humanly possible to continue offering this exceptional program for your child at an affordable price.

These payments are asked to please be made either this upcoming week or next at the very latest so we can continue moving forward as planned. In regards to this 1 time payment, please DO NOT give them to the trainers and/or coaches. Cash, check payable to SZ United or credit card are fine but they need to please go directly to your team manager or SZ United's accountant Sean Forbes. Again, nothing goes to the coach and/or trainer please so everything is track-able and that way they are not burdened with collecting and handling these finances and can continue focusing on developing your child's skills.

Regarding indoor league play, NOT outdoor spring soccer (i.e.: Maple or NHSL), unfortunately we will not be able to participate in the indoor league anymore unless as a team, you choose to pay the additional fees associated. Futsal teams are not included in this note as those fees have already been paid directly to FutsalNH.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused as I can 100% assure you this was in no means part of the plan when we 1st created SZ United.

Your team manager will be in touch soon with any possible changes to the schedule.

                Warmest regards,

                Patrick Mulcahy

That letter is interesting. I'm a little surprised that there wasn't an official agreement signed between SZ United and the Sports Zone to cover field rentals/team fees for the winter season but maybe that is part of the problem.

Laughable that no money can go to coaches/trainers...probably because most of them they don't trust.

Just looking at SZ United's website, they have nine teams. Assuming they have 100 players, which is being very conservative, they are collecting more than $10k to cover six to eight weeks of training. I have no idea how much court/field time in the winter costs but that seems to be excessive considering parents have already paid a substantial amount. We pay a fraction of what SZ costs and we get 10 weeks of training included in our fees.

Unfortunately it are the kids that are getting screwed. If you look on their website it says what the tuition fee covered. Sounds to me like there could be a lawsuit brewing. Don't know how you start a business or organization and don't plan for contingences or unforeseen issues. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN HONEST FROM THE BEGINNING

                              POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE & ORGANIZATION!
