NH soccer is at an all time low

I understand New Hampshire soccer has never been and never will be a powerhouse but the current state of affairs is really bad especially on the girls side. None of the Seacoast teams will make the playoffs and they are light years away from a champions league spot. Some of the border players will be jump ship and joining the new nefc North academy team.Their Dpl teams are no longer even in the dpl and the 8 team NAL league has already lost two teams with rumors of another leaving. Fc Stars in Nh added a few ecrl regional teams but that operation is still not taken seriously. The Aztec teams in the Nashua/Tyngsboro area were always a decent product but 3step ruined them and there are stories of kids already leaving and there are rumors of a mass exodus. For the very best players in the state it’s probably worth the hour plus drive to Lancaster to play for a national team but realistically that might only be 3-4 kids per age group. For the other 99% there just aren’t any teams that seem to have a really good,STABLE program that has a promising future. If Fc Stars put just a little effort into New Hampshire they could consolidate a lot of this mess and take over the state in a very short period of time.

Fc stars has had the opportunity many times and always choose to dabble. It would make sense if Aztec north went to stars but likely that gets territorial between stars nh directors and Aztec north directors.

the best players then state will always go ECNL or ga if their parents are smart and if the kid has college ambition.

this is the way it is. Players get what their clubs give them and us soccer is a disaster.

aztec north like the other clubs have always bleed a few players a year to ECRL, ECNL or ga opps or taken the leftovers. It’s not 3step.. nothing has changed they are Aztec #2 team as a club still are. People move at every club in NH.

none of this is new except it really appears if your kid is 9th grade or younger you should try to go for ECRL with the changes in the soccer landscape.

      Brighter or dimmer

seacoast is struggling in a watered down Ga and no longer has dpl. The future is dimmer

Aztec north has no league to play in so the typical bleeding of top players will be much worse. Their future is dimmer.

Stars Nh added ecrl so I guess they are technically brighter but not by much.

Overall girls soccer in New Hampshire is not in a great place.

I wish but it doesn’t seem like it will happen. The parents want it but there seems to be bad blood between the league and the new owners. It’s strange that Maine is still allowed in the league. They must have threatened to mutiny because nothing else makes sense.

It went downhill when GPS went under. When GPS was here it caused both Seacoast and GPS to push each other, now Seacoast doesn't have to really do anything except cash the checks and the organization will self sustain. Nothing will change until a real competitive option emerges in-state. The way the leagues (ECNL, GA, MLSNext) are setup that will never happen.

Not sure I agree. I never felt there were enough players to support two programs in-state. Besides, the competition is really out of state (Lancaster) than another in-state program.

Seacoast GA and Aztec North undoubtedly have the best local players (of those remaining who haven’t gone to Lancaster). Both being 3 Step, they should consolidate those players and pick the best as the GA teams. The current GA teams have a handful of top players and so does Aztec. Combined you get a solid team. Then the next best group from both clubs should combine for a DPL team. If they want to have GA under Seacoast and DPL under Aztec, so be it but pool the players for evaluation. Would the dropped GA players pitch a fit? Probably but too bad. Need to convince DPL though to accept them back. NAL is a stupid league for girls.

The problem is 3 Step wants to own everything but not pool their players. They are fracturing leagues and players and weakening their own product.

3step is firing its best customers with all this nonsense will result in a lot of younger teams and then fewer mediocre older teams which you would think they would realize having strong top teams is what builds the overall mix of teams

The top Aztec North girls should be getting invited to seacoast ID clinics to give those parents some sort of hope for advancement if their kids are good players. It might be too late for the 2007 team but that has always been a good team going back to the nefc days in middle school. For the younger teams that might be the only way to keep their best players under the 3step umbrella. The 3 or 4 actual elite players will end up in the ECNL but from what I’ve seen playing against them they have a number of ecrl level players that will all end up in Lancaster unless they are offered something better than the current situation. Im not sure when they send out offers but 3step might want to act quickly before it’s too late.

What's preventing an Aztec player from attending a Seacoast GA training session or tryout now?

No matter the scenario, a dropped player won't be happy. Seacoast GA has drops players all the time so nothing unusual there. Traditionally Seacoast, when it was "Seacoast", would see players from any of their affiliates attend.

I'm not understanding what the issue is.

Kids come and go from clubs all the time. With that said seacoast would be destroying Aztec if all of their players showed up for academy or dpl or whatever league tryouts. One 3step club would be destroying another. If they semi-merged the two then they could build stronger teams. Academy in epping and dpl or NAL in tynsboro. It just seems like a simple solution to strengthen two locations.

Why would those players care? I would think the goal would be to play in the most competitive environment they can. Who cares what that means for the team they left? Think they care about them?

Exactly and Aztec north kids can show up at seacoast academy practices to “try out” if they want it’s not done through iID clinics. Parents a club either works for you or it doesn’t. Move on.
