As part of AS Roma’s commitment to the US market, AS Roma Academy programs will be established on an exclusive basis beginning late fall 2012.
AS Roma Academy USA will target U11 and U12 year old male players and will be provided at no cost to the player. The goal will be to identify players with the potential to become AS Roma 1st team players.
AS Roma are committed to establishing their brand in the US market and unlike other European clubs, they are interested in talent ID as opposed to just commercially focused camps. After the successful tour of the USA this past summer, AS Roma are excited to launch the first Roma Academy which will be held in New Hampshire in October and November.
As part of the Academy program, AS Roma will also run 1-day Player ID events targeting inner city communities again with the goal of discovering players with the potential to be future professionals. We also expect to send a select group from the Roma Academies to attend a National event at Disney over Christmas in conjunction with the Serie A break. It is undecided as to whether this will launch in 2012 or wait until further program maturation and launch in 2013.
Attendance at a Roma Academy will be by invite only except for the initial open tryout. Roma Academy teams may also compete in select tournaments generally outside of the normal club calendar. While Roma Academies will be supported by AS Roma’s official American youth partner, Global Premier Soccer, the Academy programs will be club neutral.
The first Roma Academies will consist of 1-2 events per month, starting in October 2012 and running June 2013. The New Hampshire Program in 2012 will launch as follows;
When: Saturday 13th October 2012
Time: 3pm to 5pm
Location: Bedford High School, 103 County Rd, Bedford
Registration: Registration is compulsory, register at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ASRomaAcademyUSA
As part of being selected to attend the Roma Academy, players will receive a full set of official AS Roma apparel to wear during sessions as part of representing AS Roma.
