    You're kidding right?
    Nope. Not today.

I'm with Vman on this one... I (a suburbanite soccer parent - scandalous for sure) can't imagine refusing to bring my child to a game because of it's location. I'm really speechless, is that for real? It's just kids who want to play soccer! Does this actually happen - am I really in the minority here? I guess it does happen based on MASC's account. (and I'm not attempting to get into Cujo's good graces here, believe me). Wow, that's pretty sad.

Let me clarify my comment a bit. I grew up in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1986. I moved from Hyde Park to Brockton in 1988 and still have family in both locations. Neither place was that bad. I don't have a problem bringing my kid to play in a soccer game in either location. We're talking about a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon (you have to stop at Ron's Gourmet Ice Cream in Cleary Square afterwards!). That being said, I won't be hanging around in downtown Brockton or Cleary Square after dark any time soon.

I believe that the refusal to play was an isolated incident and the vast majority of teams will play at the scheduled venue.

This topic has been hijacked. It's become another battle between urban and surburban issues.

Let's stop the bashing and the generalities, if possible. Not all suburban parents are bigoted. Not all urban parents who send their kids to private schools are elitists. Parents want to do what is best for their kids ... leave it at that.

Now back to the topic or lets agree to close it out. Through all of the bashing comments, we actually received some good responses. I'd say the consensus has been that at later ages and more competitive situations (elite club/Varsity high school), a parent/coaching situation should be avoided if possible. It's unfair to the coach, coaches child, child's teammates. What the parents think is not the issue.

And miss the stop at Simcoe's for a foot long hot dog?

Now we're talking sense. I'd definately stop there after my daughter's game (I'm one of the coaches of the team so it's technically still on topic).
