    Don't back-peddle.
Me: specific and no claim about everyone at Middlebury, just those kids.
You: telling me what I intended and then inserting UMASS with no context nor relevance.

You really are a gross elitist. If you ever claim to be anti-racist then you are also a complete hypocrite. The heart of the system that supports systemic racism is Elite highly selective private Education. Can you you name a more effective way to preserve generational wealth and social status?

Your a fool. I know amazing successful people that went to both u mass and nescac schools. You can't understand someone mimicking you for effect

You do not need a high cost liberal arts private school to get a good job. What I find funny is when people look down on state or public schools especially when they have better programs for much less the price. Also most liberal people over pay for education and then want the government to pay for it because they god an useless degree and have over $250,000 in debt but can’t make more than $20 per hour. If you want to spend extra money then spend it on graduate school.

Of course you do. I think that's the point. Pretending that any college is much better than another is a gross fallacy. I give you solid props for trying to bait me with a grammar error while calling me a fool. I know a master baiter when I see one.

One of mine looked at a small rural school. Practically ran to the car after the tour 😆. Another fell in love with a rural school partly because they're super outdoorsy. Some kids aren't comfortable on large campuses or more urban/congested areas. To each his own. There's a very true saying: There's a college for everyone.

Before it's time to get serious about college (athlete or not) take them to visit some different types.of schools so they can consider the type of school and environment they want. Better to know ahead of time to make targeting more efficient

uh, ok. The conversation had nothing to do with Ivies, but whatever. Also, the Ivies have far more generous aid to lower and middle income families than the small private colleges do. There's very little social or economic diversity at NESCAC schools.

This is good advice. Mine is seeing pros and cons to both environments...ugh....that makes it more challenging. Good luck to all!

They pride themselves on lots of attention and a very good student to faculty ratio which is obviously expensive. If you can afford and your kid would thrive in that small school environment, these could be great choices. Pluses and minuses any way you slice it like do many things in life.

Huh? NESCACs pride themselves on diversity, they take students of many colors from Nobles and Milton

There are many worse outcomes to be had than studying and graduating from a high quality slac. Or go seek a place with more diversity and reap the advantages of that. World is a complex place. Seek a good solution far away from some pithy idiotic comments on an anonymous soccer forum.

and there we have the most pithy and idiotic statement.

Highly selective LACs are literally THE SYSTEM that preserves generational/white privilege. Their brands are solely rooted in exclusivity. Continuing to evangelize them and not call out their truths is akin to saying "I didn't put the rope on his neck". Unlike the Ivies that have the money to fund 100% of need, the very business model of these "good schools" and the networks they proudly claim to foster is just bad juju. Wake up Professor Woke, it's your system that sustains systemic racism

Lol. Ok mom. You have it all figured out for all the college bound kids out here as to how best to get them where they want to go. You are such an amazing expert on a bunch of young students you know nothing about.

So on the one hand, you are saying that LACs don't prepare you for the real world and there will be a rude awakening trying to find a job. On the other hand, LACs preserve white privilege and keep the hierarchies in place. Which is it? If you can't find a job, how are you going to keep your privilege?
