Anonymous board —> definitely and “No doubt about it”? What’s definite is you are a very jealous parent. I would bet that you wrote the post and replied to yourself so you can stir it up. It must be exhilarating for you.
Originally posted by Unregistered View Postagree with your premise 100%! Makes sense, however, that poster was definitely a select parent. No doubt about it. He/she obviously had a kid at select and it was several posts about select girls and the national team. I agree and disagree with you. It was stated many times last week with actual current select girls names and how select had 15 girls currently on call for the national team. Without a doubt an overzealous select parent touting select which is totally fine but factually incorrect.

This thread needs to be retired. Select isn't going to ECNL and they are praying to the heavens that GA doesn't fold. End of thread!! It's that simple!!

In a couple of weeks, the rosters at many of these clubs will look different. At many ages, SSS and NEFC players are leaving for Stars and Scorpions. Whether you think it’s fair or not, talent will continue to migrate to ECNL (not every great player, but enough to improve Stars and Scorpions and knock SSS and NEFC down a peg). Replacing game against SUSA, WC and even PDA White with games against Oakwood and Seacoast still lowers the level of competition overall. I find that people who are super critical of any travel are usually the ones who aren’t actually doing it. For MA teams, it’s one weekend in NY/NJ and one weekend on Long Island over the course of the entire year for league play.
And yes, FSA is bad.

Seacoast, Oakwood and SSS are not upgrades to SUSA, East Meadow, World Class or PDA White. Oakwood probably should take FSA spot but SSS would be bottom third with all teams. They would not be able to play players in multiple games to make teams look stronger and they would not be able to handle the grind of 16 game season. This is what people do not realize about the ECNL is that you are playing tough competition every weekend. You don’t get to rest players or play cream puff like in the other leagues. Also for most local tournaments they play their role players much more because they don’t care about got soccer points and to see if they can handle more minutes for league games. This will better prepare players for the college game. At least that is what I see with our coach.

You underestimate the GA teams. In our age group those games would be very close.

What age group are you talking about and let’s have a serious conversation. Because a lot of GA teams played at SUSA tournament and we can compare apples to apples

What’s the point? Those 3 clubs are staying in GA. There are different age groups, some stronger than others. Fact is, I would not waste my time comparing.
Bottom line is you are at FC Stars to get your daughter committed to a college. Do you think GA players are all uncommitted? If say you daughter can commit to the college of her choice and enjoy more reasonable roster sizes, playing time, good competition, solid coaching that focuses on player development, and have more room on a field to simulate real soccer, are you okay with that? I can see you love ECNL, but there are a lot of downsides and risk there too. I think you are smart enough to know what I am talking about.

From a business standpoint, it makes ZERO sense. Why should Stars and Scorpions give up their distinct competitive advantage (ECNL membership) and allow their business rivals to steal their players and weaken their business? Why would they willingly set up a situation whereby any unhappy player who has lost a starting position or playing time can simply jump to another ECNL club?
As it stands now, the top players generally migrate toward the ECNL clubs as they get into HS and the recruiting ages, because ECNL generally offers better competition and the easiest path to college recruitment. Why would the 2 clubs in the driver's seat want to stop that trend? Smart businesses do not take the thing that makes them unique in their marketplace and simply give it away to someone who wants to steal market share --- just doesn't happen.

You have no clue. SSS played and continues to play ECNL teams and does quite well.
