    Seacoast Making Empty Promises?

I’ve heard numerous people on here say that Seacoast doesn’t put the top players on the top teams. They promise that there’ll be movement throughout the seasons, but never move kids up or down. Is this true, or are SUSC parents just salty their kids aren’t top of their age group?

First question is who's defining top players? Why would a club not want their top players on the top team?

Now the middle to bottom third? I could see arguments to having some of them on a team lower than absolute ranking (which of course doesn't really exist anyway)

There can be developmental advantages to both being in the top 1/3 and bottom 1/3 of a team. If you are in say the top 1/3 of a "B" team you get to work on leadership and setting the pace while potentially getting more minutes, which is very different than being on the bottom of the A team. Of course making it to the bottom of the A team can also be beneficial in that it probably provides more challenge to grow into.

But if this Q is really you being confused why your child didn't make a particular team... talk to the coach and/or the DOC! Try out for another team!

Don’t bother with DOC. He runs around and picks his teams out of a hat then acts shocked when he loses week after week to teams of higher caliber.

Seacoast is killing it with 2022 commitments so they must be doing something right.

Just being a "top" player on the B team doesn't mean you should be on the A team. Players that get moved up are seen as being a top 5 starter for the A team. Most likely you're interchangeable with a bottom level A player and won't bring anything substantial to the team. You're also more likely to sit a lot more.

youre saying they wont move unless theyre a top 5 starter?

thats the dumbest thing ive heard in a long time

Is Seacoast disingenuous? Sure. All clubs do this. (Personally I think Seacoast makes promises and they don't back it up. I'm not talking about my kids team or playing time.
I am talking about general club activity...they handled the pandemic horribly. No games and no tournaments but charged the same amount of money. They fired coaches, limited field fee's, no tournament fees but didn't give a discount or refund). But I digress...

The poster above who says that the B Team player needs to be perceived as a top 5 A team player isn't wrong. But...mostly because these teams are established in the U12 timeframe and stick together for the next 4-6 years. The kids play together and it is tough for a club to remove the kid from the A Team. Much easier to move kids up but very hard to move up when there aren't any spots.

Not really. There's also huge negative incentive to moving players town. So for your B team superstar to move up the club needs to have a tough conversation with some other player and family about why they're being moved down to make room for your player.

B team parents need to stay in their lane.

ok, personally if a kid is going to be a starter, im taking them, i dont need a 'top 5' starter. if youre afraid of having a conversation about kid #18 on your team so you can get a starter, i think youre best to stick with town soccer

What a silly post! What other club has more options and pathways for both genders. Theresa reason they got stronger they the toughest of times. Great leadership and people that care!

My kid is new to the club, playing predominately on a regional team. She’s also played within the Academy and has opportunities not available elsewhere.

PW kept everyone on at 100% of salary. He gave credits to every family, even those new to the club. Anyone that claims otherwise is a liar.
