While I agree they are the overseer of the demise of youth soccer today, it's up to the consumer to decide and it's up to someone else to market something better. Right now, nobody has been able to.

I love the competition setup .... Just kind of sucks that both organizations are set up to accomplish the same thing and that they are not truly competitive to do something better for the game and the players they serve ... Do something that different than the other group that people will line up and pay for.

USYS did rule everything...for a really long time...somebody came along with something a lot of people (including college coaches) liked better.

It should all be eliminated until we are capable of putting 11 world class players on the pitch at the same time.
All of US soccer system has been an utter failure.

Took a few days off psycho?

Posting more responses than you normally do to your OP.

So sad...you think that posting on TS is going to 'Bring down the Big Clubs!'

TS is better without your threads and posts.

Parents don't care about that. They don't care about the game at all. They didn't grow up with it, don't really understand it beyond the youth level, nor care to. Their kids play as a means for them to get a scholarship. Otherwise, there would be zero interest in the game.

Apparently you've never been to a random town soccer game on a Fall Saturday afternoon and seen hundreds rec/travel kids in uniform. You've never been to a HS game where virtually no one is going to play college soccer. Division 3 High Schools even have JV teams! Can you imagine?

Throw a dart at the map and try it some time then tell me nobody likes soccer except for "scholarships".

Sounds like a problem on the men’s side. US Soccer had 10+ years of running the boys DA and it didn’t produce those 11 players.

Not sure I get your point. What does throwing a dart at the map have to do with scholarships?

                      Point taken.

They don't know the game, nor care to. But, your point is correct.

Well it didn't take long for "town boy" to come along... smh
Last time I saw a town soccer team play quality soccer... ummm like never!
Cute for kids from the same town to play together all the way through HS, it's a fun experience, but the quality of play is pure crap.

Your statement that parents don't care about the game is insulting. I'm in my 50's. I played Youth Soccer along with many, many others in my small town. I may not be from a country where soccer is the #1 sport but I 'grew up with it'. In my town soccer was the 5th ranked sport and had the least experienced coaches. I still live in that town and the Youth Soccer (and High School) programs have not changed much. No funding and poor coaching (but god love the parents who commit their time and patience).

I see a need for club soccer. Youth soccer had many many years to develop a program properly and failed miserably. Then club soccer stepped in to offer a better solution with better coaching, better fields, more games, etc. Many parents involve their kids so that they can compete at a higher level, enjoy the game and improve. I think there are very few parents expecting scholarships out of their club experience. But if people want to expect that then let them...why should someone else's expectations affect you?

If your ridiculous posts ever produced results (which I highly doubt) then another club-like program will fill the void...simply because any structure similar to todays youth soccer (i.e. ODP) will take us back years. Nobody likes paying thousands for their kid to play soccer but you will not create a better solution with MIAA, NCAA or US Youth Soccer.

You realize just how unique your experience is, right?

The point is that the poster I replied to said the only reason people play soccer is for "scholarships". And my point is that plenty of kids play in towns all over America solely because they enjoy soccer. They may not ever be headed for a scholarship. So saying that nobody in America cares about soccer except scholarships is idiotic.
