"I have always said that football should be played beautifully, in an attacking way. It must be a spectacle. Football is a game you play with your brains. You have to be in the right place at the right moment, not too early, not too late."

Unfortunately, the soccer incognescenti of t/s won’t read, care to, or even look at the thread.
But they still have plenty to say
It’s like teaching French with a Chinese textbook

Yeah, sadly, I know. I will keep trying to bring soccer subjects to talk about on a website named talking-soccer.com, with the knowledge that I'm just whistling in the wind....

Good luck! 95% of TS posters are probably scratching their heads wondering whether Cruyff is a new kiddie league or the DOC at a girls soccer club.

This is why Americans hate soccer ... smug, arrogant f%$s like you. Play pro or international? Are your kids also destined for greatness? GTFOH pr|ck! Again, we hate you and ALL like you ..... why can't you offer up some history or stories without being a raging @$$hole? We like sports of all kids and david vs goliath or inspirational stories in any sport ... stop being so condescending. You know, most of us actually do get competitive sports and understand how difficult it is to play at certain levels. Not sure why soccer is the only sport that thinks you had to be a pro player to truly understand the sport.

He is one of the most influential coaches of the modern game, possession to penetrate. One of my favorite things he talked about was knowing when and where to use foot skills. He thought players did moves to show off everything they learned when all you had to do was dribble by the player.

he's right. most of the time a quick faint and simply taking the ball toward space is most effective. but not necessarily as much fun!

"Technique is not being able to juggle a ball 1000 times. Anyone can do that by practicing. Then you can work in the circus. Technique is passing the ball with one touch, with the right speed, at the right foot of your team mate."

His move is one of the easiest and effective moves. Underutilized by young players today.

For years, I have been pilloried on this site for insisting on the importance of two touch play and the lack of importance of the dribble. Cruyff also emphasized movement off the ball as his training sessions would sometimes never even use a ball.
However, it is much easier to teach dribbling skills to the vast majority of players than have them watch and learn the intricacies of proper play. Watching the game can teach more than almost any on field session, which is why the world passes us by on the pitch.
The kids and most coaches of this country do not watch any soccer.
Time to get rid of the cones.
