    Fall 2

Anyone have information regarding "fall 2" soccer season? Apparently hs football starts today, we haven't
received anything from our public school yet

    My understanding:
MIAA placed HS Soccer in Fall 1. It already happened
Fall 2 includes a mix of Fall (Football), and Winter (T&F) sports

We got notification today for our student's enrollment in fall 2 soccer, season starts 3/10. Not all schools had fall 1 season, some were put off till now

It probably depends on the school district. But a lot of HS teams in the suburbs already had soccer.

Cool thing about this board is when you think you’ve seen every way anyone can be a complete tool - someone shows a new way.

We had Fall 1. In short, it sucked. Short 6 game season. Played the same 3 teams a couple times since a lot of schools backed out due to Covid. Wear mask at all times (MIAA said you could take it off momentarily to catch breath, but most refs didn’t allow). Cant touch the ball with your hands so no throw-ins; only kick-ins allowed. No direct corners. No heading. Game played in quarters. Limited contact; no should-to-shoulder, etc. Bunch of rules that made no sense. Refs blowing their electronic whistles constantly to enforce senseless rules. Probably should be happy they got to play at all, but it really wasn’t a great experience for players, parents, or coaches. Happy for the seniors through, it would really suck if they didn’t have a final season. Have fun!

^dunno, last fall we spectated a high school game that was played at lovell field & game was pretty good considering. Ref was not overly obtrusive. Kids were aggressive. No throw ins or inbox corners, but it was soccer. Not perfect but my thoughts were that kids/spectators benefited

I think the school that pushed back soccer to fall 2 are going to have tough time with field issues. If you have a turf field I’m sure the football team will get it first then the soccer teams will fight for the left overs. I know some of the snow now is melting but the grass fields I’m sure are goi g to be a mess. Logistics are going to be a nightmare so I would be shocked if the schools cancel a bunch of games or have fewer practices.

Will they change the rules for fall 2 seeing youth soccer went back to normal rules with besides masks?

Ha- there's zero chance you can play on any grass field in MA for the next few months

Our town has had couple fall 2 games. Went very well, nice weather, fields nice. Don't like the fact rules are still modified! Heck, basketball uses hands!
