If US Soccer worked the way it should, teams from any club should be able to compete to play in a top league. Instead, it’s about politics, size, barriers to entry, and poaching players. Sad reality.

Players choose a club that has a good coach, quality training, good fit and competition. Most of your time is spent playing against teammates. The majority of games are against teams in your division. There may be a team or two outside your division and then there are showcases that open it up country wide.
What should matter most is player development. You can play ECNL for the exposure/ connections to colleges, but the player still has to be able to produce at the next level to make a college team, earn a position and get minutes. Next season, new recruits are coming to take your spot. Many families get a college scholarship and find their daughter transferring to another university.
Isn’t the point to do what’s best for the player so he/she is fully prepared for the next four years and happy?

I'll be sure to let my daughter know the arrogant obnoxious anonymous blowhards on the site disagree with her having conversations with some coaches.

Personally, the undergraduate degree doesn't really matter to me. I've hired people with all kinds of educational backgrounds for high-paying jobs.
