    Well played.

But colds and sniffles don’t kill almost 400k

They kill people tho. At the heart of all of this is context and scale. Is 400K a good result or a bad result?

Back in March we knew little about SARS-Cov-2, but we were seeing alarming rates of infection and morbidity and decided to shut down the country with the "Flatten the Curve" mantra. The goal, which was very well stated, was not to beat the virus. Smart people just asked us to slow the spread, not overwhelm hospitals and do what we could to reduce the death rate. At no point did we expect to eliminate death. We expected Death - enough of it to shut down the country. How much did we expect? Are we ahead or behind our goals?

I truly don't know the answer to these question. I am hopeful that those of you who are well connected to the science and appreciate the scientific method are aware of an initial hypothesis or model of various scenarios that provides a foundation for assessing "400K Dead" as on, above, or behind expectations. If you don't have that, or are unwilling to have a conversation about what that range should look like, then you are not following the scientific method, and merely invoking mindless hyperbole.

And we still haven’t slowed the spread of flattened the curve.
Is that our fault or is the covid smarter than we are?

Too many are easily defeated and cannot sustain much of a fight. Weaklings that rationalize away any sacrifice that might be required

This is true. Many of us will not do what you would prefer that we do. Now that this is abundantly clear, and given the fact that draconian measures only work if literally everybody does them, let's stop this charade and stop pretending that we are going to "fight" an airborne virus.

Raging? How about "Expected". Isn't this the Second Wave science predicted.
Cases may be peaking, but that's a good thing (Testing!). We actually have no idea how many cases we actually had in April, but according to MA data we have TWICE as many cases today. Except, despite that doubling of known cases we have HALF as many hospitalized. These are not percentages. Half as many overall, and a third the number of deaths.

You are a "Raging" lunatic if you let yourself get all caught up in media infused hysteria. Look at the data!
