There is no controversy with MA's numbers that I know of (although seems some think the figures are overstated when every health expert said they're probably undercounted). It's Florida's that are suspect.

Nobody sick is flying. So of course the numbers are low.
Most of the initial infection came in on airplanes.
Except for Thanksgiving where plenty of sick got on planes.
We’re paying for that now, aren’t we?

          Gullibility on whose side?
The populace of certain states with lying Gov..? (Most red states) national
The clowns believing everything Orangeman says?
Or the populace that follows science, wears masks, and even acknowledges that families have lost loved ones?
Watch Fox business, Newsmax and OAN sometime...they caters solely to the gullible.

What makes Florida's suspect? Serious question.

Ive seen reporting that Florida focuses on different talking points, which is a political marketing tool that both sides use, but I have seen no reports that suggest that they have 'cooked the books'.

Are you seriously suggesting that all Republicans lie and all Democrats are truth-speakers?

Science cuts both ways. Science says that Corona is real and very dangerous to specific populations. Science also says that other populations are at minute risks of serious problems.

These are not binary issues. If you believe that they are, you are just as gullible as the other side.

Go to the CDC, check out death and infection rates by state. They have a nice color coded map that makes it very easy to compare states. They will show you year to date and most recent trends. These maps make it very clear that it is not a red=bad and blue=good situation.

If you wish to combat gullibility, start at home.

If you wish to be a troll, carry on.

Morality and patriotism says that do your part to control the spread of the virus to protect the at risk americans rather then just focus on yourself.

As another said above: MA data I mostly trust, FL no way. Anything out of the WH no fuking way.
Your level of confirmation bias is off the charts.

3 of these articles are basically reporting gossip.

The one that actually reports something states that Mike Pence instructs the CDC to find and present proof that opening schools is safe. You read the 'proof' part, right? He didn't say make something up, he said report proof, ie facts. He asked the doomsayers to present a different perspective. You might not agree with it, but that doesn't make it wrong. No different than someone saying 300k people have died, while another says 99+% of people under 70 survive. Both statements are correct and truthful. Different sides of the same coin. Glass have empty vs half full, and so on

Patriotism: love or devotion of ones country.

Ethical or humane might be debatably appropriate words to use, but not patriotic.

The more patriotic thing to do, the thing that would be better for the country, would be for the limited few high risk people to isolate and allow our country and the rest of the citizens to function.

GDP growth has halted, Small businesses are folding all over, middle and lower class are struggling to make ends meet. People with all types of service needs are not getting the care that they need, suicide and drug overdoses have risen dramatically.

Staying at home is better for at-risk people but certainly not the country.

Not at all. They are all lying.
And they are binary when you have lost a loved one.
It almost appears as if not enough have died to rattle the idiots cages. That’s binary.
And are you willing to take the risk?

This has just been announced as the deadliest year in US history.
We still have 2 weeks to go.

                            I’m sorry for your loss.
I hope you were able to be with them when they passed?
                            I was not.

You take all the risk you want, cowboy, but you better have a mask on.
You won’t get the medical treatment the lying scumbags all got.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my father early in the pandemic. However, I am still willing to take the 99 point whatever chance that I will be ok. Just because my father died, it will not change the way I have made every decision in my adult life. I will take those odds all day, every day. I make sure we quarantine whenever we see my mom, every other month or so. So I am acknowledging the risk for her, whose risks are much higher.

Also during the pandemic, I’ve seen other family members, who live paycheck to paycheck, get evicted and have to move in with in-laws to keep a roof over their kids heads. Hard to pay bills when you can’t work in your field for several months. Also hard to start a new career when the economy is shut down.
I keep my kids in soccer and support all who do, wherever those games may be. Soccer transmission has been studied at length and show near zero risk, well below typical day to day interactions. It is safer to be on a field where everyone is paying attention to protocols than to be in a backyard or living room where there is no monitor of protocols. Kids NEED social interaction, and soccer is one of the safest environments that they can get it.

Also, since you read the article, you know that every subsequent year is the deadliest year in the US. We have an aging and growing population. This year was above trend and the virus had an enormous amount of excess deaths above the trend, but ‘deadliest’ is less impressive in context, and sensationalistic.
