Good luck to those 09's that are playing up 2 age divisions in the upcoming Stars tournament. That should work out great for those U-12 girls playing in a U-14 age group. Hope they match up Stars blue 08 and select 08 as 1 of the games so the U-12's only have to play twice against girls 2 years older.

That would be great a rematch between Blue and Select in 2 weeks. 4-0 Blue.

I understand and I am not smart. FOR EVERYONE: The 4 Select 09's that play for the Select 08's who are playing in the 07 division at the Stars tournament would make those 4 09's playing up 2(two) years for at least 2 games in the tournament and if they play 08 blue then it would only be 1 year. BINGO!! Gold star for me!

p.s. if Select 08 plays FC STARS Blue 08 3x in the tournament then yes it would only be 1 year that they are playing up

Agreed, 09s playing up on the bigger field doesn't help 08s, and it certainly won't help the 09s. Everyone play their age group, any deviation from that is ill-conceived.

select 08's-the ego of that over rated team- should be playing in it's age bracket. The 09's are in the 2nd division and the 08's would have been in the 1st division. At least Select and Stars blue are playing each other next weekend. NEFC GA should be in the 07 bracket before select. It's good to see the 4 09 select girls that start for the 08 select team playing up 2 divisions. That should be fun

Generally I agree with this but for the 09's I absolutely disagree. I assume from your statement that you haven't had a kid make the transition to the big field yet. From what I've seen, many of the best clubs use the spring before making the transition to get the kids playing as much on the big field as possible. I wouldn't grab a few 09's and play them with the 08's. I'd put the whole 09 team in an 08 bracket and do that as much as possible. Spring on the small field the spring before the transition is cramped, can teach habits that have to be broken on the big field and is not the best use of time but as a parent it only becomes obvious after the fact.

I don't disagree with that logic. Obviously I'm posting on an 08 thread so we've made the transition, and in the fall I witnessed athletic players having a tough time. The reason being your point on habits. You can run all over that small field and be fine, but try that on the larger field and now you're running 4 to 5 miles during the game. Players that once tried to play all over the field are now beginning to understand that you play your position and contribute.

In other news, the brackets appear equitable. There should be some good games all around, and especially in the top tier. Scorpions and Stars played in the fall, but I love seeing NEFC Academy in the mix. I don't know much about Aztec, but we've played them at younger ages and they've always played well. It's going to be a fun weekend of soccer and that's what matters most.
