First thing in the letter is about not being able to obtain insurance. That’s a factor not many have mentioned, but it’s what is going to shut down many leagues and clubs until this is over.

Sorry. I didn’t realize you got a raise. I’m happy for you. All refs should get more but my stance is still F Over the Hill! Get off of TS!!! No one cares.

I've been in this league since the mid-90's.
Yes, there is a huge element of a-holes trying to regain their HS glory years. There's also a bigger element of friendship and bonds formed over that time.
As our team has aged through O30, O-40, and into O-50 and been promoted and relegated from D6 to D1 and all over, I've made friendships and business acquaintances from all over. I spent, literally, decades marking one person in particular 4x a year for most of that time, and got to know him and his family. I've watched him get married, become a father, and see his kid off to college. I see some opponents more than my own family. Hell, some of my teammates I've been playing with for almost 40 years now.
When you get through the youth soccer bullshlt, what is left is the love of the game. Nobody is getting scouted. Nobody is playing for money. You get up early on a Sunday morning and play because you love it. Then, you battle for 90 minutes and share a BBQ after.
Nothing like getting home and your wife is making breakfast late morning and you are three beers deep and already scarfed down a few Linguiças.....
There's people playing in the Veteran's Division who are over 80. Yeah, the game is slower and as you get older, typically people are more respectful in their tackles. But, it's the same game and it's played only for the love of it.
