Who is sitting at home watching a prof women's soccer game every Saturday at 3:00 in the afternoon? You are either at your kid's game at that time (college, youth, etc.) or doing something else. It's Saturday freaking afternoon.

Why Lifetime didn't air them at 7 or 8 pm is beyond explanation? No wonder it didn't pan out.

This started when Hope was on the team. She is seeking payment for that timeframe. Ellis was not included as management (and the good USSF soldier). Now, she should join unless her golden parachute precludes her from joining in the release (they could pay her handsomely in her separation package). But, highly likely there will be a confidentially clause so we may never know the nuts and bolts of all of her separation package. Not worth risking and loosing if they pay her well as she exits.

Most separation agreements contain a non-disparagement clause. Should be illegal.

That is where Women’s soccer should be spending their time. Figuring out how to grow their business by making sure that folks can watch them on media for example as opposed to suing each other.

Of course, but by the time you tune it; your social media has already told you what happened. Moving it to prime time would be MUCH better for the sport and viewership. Then we can DVR things like Shark Week instead.

Agreed. But that is the what you have to give up for your pound of flesh agreed upon.

Sometimes worth it and incorporated into the final amount of commas applied to the check, but still can make you feel like you sold out.

Make it worth it Jill!!! Cha ching!!!

Who carries the games? I saw a stat recently that BOWLING gets stronger viewership than women's soccer (or maybe it was even WNBA). You can't create a market that isn't there. Nor can you expect another entity(some broadcaster(s)) to take a hit for you.

have all of those, but want to pay attention to my kids games when there (as far as streaming) and DVR - social media spoils. Not sure why you don't see that viewership would improve if these were broadcast in Primetime.

Why do you think the rebroadcast of live events happens in Primetime on other major network channels (for instance the Olympics, etc.)? AND sponsors get their products actually viewed during half-time, commentating discussions before and after. Marketing 101.

You can't create a market if you if choose NOT to create the market. That's what is going on. There IS a market if they handled it properly. The viewership for the WWC is an example.

They said that about the WNBA too. Twenty three years in the league loses $10M a year and attendance figures are as poor as NWSL. People only care about the winning WNT team every few years. They wouldn't get half the viewership if the team wasn't winning.
Globally this years' WWC had 1B in total viewership - a record and a huge increase from last times 750M. But that's across all games and no doubt party boostered by having more countries in it. In comparison, that is the same as the World Cricket Cup and matches the numbers for the FIFA men's final last year - just one game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ion_broadcasts

Marketing 101 doesn't mean shyte if Finance 101 isn't met. If the networks thought they could make a nickel they'd do it. There's other programing that makes more money for them. Maybe the NWSL can start it's own streaming network.

So ultimate Frisbee makes more money that women's soccer for the networks? Curling? Please. But, I agree the professional soccer leagues, US and MLS and NWLS in the USA should have it's own network. It's certainly worth a try (carry youth soccer events, advertising, talk shows with players and athletes from other sports, show on refereeing (giving them a voice), etc.

If it works, great; if not, then it goes into the network graveyard like some others. Fox was a test network back in the day. It carried programs that others would not with limited sponsorship. Now it's a giant in the industry.
