A lot of these things are just part of the collective bargaining process. There was a time before Curt Flood came along when you could get the same sort of complaints (less the parts about pregnancy) from professional athletes. It's took years in the NBA for them to get things like athletic trainers and limits on the number of games and practices they had to compete in. The women will have to work for it just like the men did which is exactly why the US NT and so many other women's national teams are taking the legal actions they are taking. The advantage the women have is there is already plenty of precedent visible on the men's side to bolster their claims. It should speed up the process for them.

“We, the players, have invested years of our own lives and all of our energy to build this team and this sport to its strength today,” read the letter, which was signed by eight former players, including Cristiane and Francielle as well as the former World Cup stars Sissi, Rosana and Formiga. “Yet we, and almost all other Brazilian women, are excluded from the leadership and decision-making for our own team and our own sport."
