One of the schools my 10th grade daughter is interested in does not have any upcoming ID camps posted and the school will not be in attendance at any of the upcoming showcases her club will be at. What is the best way to reach out to the coaches of the school?

Coaches don't always register for showcases or may do so last minute - so even if the school is not on the showcase or tournament list someone may still be attending.
If your daughter is playing club, hopefully her coach can also provide some guidance. Good luck!

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostAll good points above. Our experience was that coaches/scouts aren't seriously looking at your kid's showcase games until 11th grade. We used 10th grade to narrow down the schools by visiting and taking in practices and games to see if it felt like a good fit. You can get a wealth of info talking to current parents in the stands at halftime. Don't be afraid to ask questions! Good luck!

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostUnless they changed the rules, official visits don't start until senior year. Honestly, unless your kid in a hot prospect don't expect many of these. Most schools recruit locally and have limited budgets for soccer so they aren't picking up the tab for most visits.

Like another said not all will be on the official lists of events so email them regardless. If anything it gets your player on their radar and shows them what level she's playing at. She doesn't really need to worry about ID events until this summer. That's when most of them happen, although unfortunately they get jammed into a very tight window of time so you have to plan and prioritize. If there's time try and visit the schools now. If it isn't a school she can see herself attending as a student don't bother with the event.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe rules have changed. Now official visits can come Sept 1 junior year. Official offers can't go out until that date either but there will still be "commitments" prior to that. They'll just be kept quiet. Coaches and players can talk as long as the coach doesn't initiate contact (so the player can still call or a club coach can act as intermediary) but they're not supposed to talk about "recruiting" until junior year. Same at ID events. Younger players can attend them at anytime but they can't talk about "recruitment". Like that's enforceable...
