    NEFC South

Does NEFC have any trust in this region anymore? NEFC NS thriving, Central as always have the best teams, NEFC West doing well even the Metro region growing. This region used to be a dominate force of the south, great teams and great coaches, now by the looks of things, they only have one good coach left in JM and his 2004 team (congrats on your 2004 national cup win, sir, a credit to the region) but the rest of their teams don't seem to be competing like they used to. A real shame.

Who is running the region now? I've heard that MY is in a leadership position, if so, that makes complete sense on why they are now struggling and losing a lot of players to Liverpool. Is that right GPS took a whole 2005 team from them this year?

Not sure if this is just a pat on the back for the 2004 team and the coach.
I thought sc is the director. If you have a child in this region it's pretty simple to find out just a quick email.
Also no one cares about that earea it's to far away for the big coaches to go to.

Precisely. If your kid has actual talent they would be playing for a central team. You have to be nuts to pay club prices for rec soccer.

National Champs...doesn't this mean they are the best team in the country?

Lower division national champs... I think SSS U14AP took the upper division. Also, the easiest qualifier from State Cup... RI. Had to beat Bruno and Bayside, two weak teams in the age group. Having said that, it's still a "National Championship".

Here we go with those who object to anyone claiming National Championship. Read the post again. Poster was very specific and named "national cup" no claim beyond that, and that is exactly what the team won.

SSS won the 2004 super group National Cup. Nefc was in the lower group. Not too exciting.

are they comparable to the old scorpion team national champs or some of the stars teams before and at the beginning of ECNL?

First, congrats on a successful run and winning the National Cup. It is always great seeing so many New England teams doing well at this tournament. Makes you wonder what it would be like if every region had a direct path like each New England state (no regional) does. Regardless of how they qualified they still had to play and win against some solid teams.

As for the NEFC regions, on the boy’s side, the central and south regions are comparable at what NEFC calls the "elite" and “united” levels. In my opinion, once Blackwatch was bought by NEFC the teams in the former Blackwatch club, which were highly competitive, became less competitive. The reason is the top Blackwatch kids were all moved to the top NEFC teams (NPL, etc). Some of the top kids from Blackwatch are top kids at NEFC. That is not good for the regional teams (North/South/Central) but it is clearly NEFC’s model so it is tough to fault them for that. The downside is that NEFC is less competitive in the South region then in the past, but you can say the same in the Central. I only state this because top kids are not going to the Central region they are going to the DA or NPL teams. It just so happens that the DA and NPL teams practice in the Central region (Mendon, etc). NEFC West and NS have some good teams, it will be interesting to see how these regions are impacted in the future as these are new regions/acquisitions for NEFC.

Yes it is not brain surgery. Every big club who has “Elite” level teams (DA/ECNL/NPL) are going to look to funnel all of their best regional players into them. That means it will weaken the regional teams. However, some kids just don’t want to go for whatever reason (travel & cost commitments being the most common reason). So every now and then you get a very strong regional team of players who have decided to stick together and not move up. But it is of course common sense that after U13, the regional teams will be weekend across the board due to losing top roster players when “Elite” teams are formed.
