It would be tempting for BBA/NEFC to take the offer to go back to ECNL (They could actually position themselves as the better ECNL option over the Stars and their now diluted two ECNL teams. However any FC is still tight with the DA on the boys side, and positioning themselves all the time to get full boys DA. Dropping GDA for ECNL now would kill those chances. Not happening.

More broadly, it sure looks like USSF is serving up the golden goose of youth soccer to become a mediocre foie gras. If they keep jerking players and their families around, eventually parents will realize that for most kids, club soccer is over-priced rec. The changes they've implemented are not likely to improve US competitiveness. Soccer is/was gaining traction in the US. If USSF does not get both the men's and women's game to consistently being in, and making it to, quarterfinals (at a minimum) US spectatorship will diminish.

If I could wave a magic wand, BBA would play ECNL and ECNL member clubs would revert back to school year birthdays. Fix the issues that USSF created and families will flock to those member clubs.

With school year ALL kids get competitive teams until graduation. The way it is now a large group of kids miss fall of grade 8 and senior year. And travel needlessly to showcases when they have a year or two before recruitment is really a major concern. It makes no sense. I'm all for ECNL stepping in and bringing some sense back to youth soccer... not that I see that happening.
ecnl allowed trapped 8th graders to play u14 and trapped seniors to play u18. no one was without a team.
