    Club Questions

We have participated in a number of clubs (boys side) over the past 5 years. The reason for switching clubs has been a laundry list of reason (age change caused a team to fold, two clubs were acquired and big changes were made and my son moved up to an ECNL level).

We are looking to possibly move away from ECNL and possibly go to NPL (Reason for this move is the massive amount of travel for practices and games. I wouldn't say that we were misled but I think we had incorrect expectations...even though we did a lot of research and information gathering).

When my son was younger it was relatively easy to make a club move (the reasons were cost and commute). Now he is older and we need to make the right decision.

Based on your experience, what are good questions to ask a prospective coach/club?

Start first by getting opinions from parents currently at clubs you are considering. They're your best resource to get the scoop on coaching, treatment of players, playing time. Not all NPL is the same and some still has a great deal of travel.
