Not even the best from a huge soccer state like NJ can displace even one of those many west coasters? Why is that? Seriously. Mine are younger.

The GDA technical directors are all connected to clubs. There are 3 kids from VA/MD area. Tech director in that region was a club coach in VA only last season.
Nothing changes. yet everyone is surprised when the fails continue to occur. There is a reason the MNT kid picked Mexico. Wait until Chris P has eligibility to become GE citizen. see what happens. NWSL and US college kids want to leave not stay and play. screams complete dysfunction.

Some of you are way too bitter and just downright silly. There is no conspiracy, what you are seeing is evidence of what an epic failure the ECNL was in these parts. More of it has to do with the way club soccer is organized in the old R1 geographic area than anything else. We have always had way too many clubs competing against each other so the talent pool gets thinned too much and the best and brightest end up playing with and against completely average players. You need pressure to make diamonds and you don’t get that around here.

Oh, BBA rep, it’s always the same response. Why are people talking about 24 spots across the nation as though their kids should have been picked?

Get use to it. Northeast clubs priority are more inline with ECNL than DA. You are what you are. I’m just surprised the player is not from the Breakers DA. Guess JD still has his pull at the NYT setup. Most players we have here in the northeast are typical of college players (big, fast and strong with little technical skill). Worse off they lack creativity and ball control. Until those issues are addressed the region will be a token selection.

none of this is a shock. The NT culture is to select players young and continue to give them a many opportunities as possible to justify it . A poster above talked about pressure an diamonds - Venezuela? Haiti? hardly pressure packed games. More like chances to score a lot an pad stats.

Hs nothing to do with my kid getting picked, she has aged out , but until the culture changes to widen the net, scout a lot better and look to give as many kids a look in off WC years, nothing will change.

First - not surprising as just about all players on the NT track went GDA. So, duh the roster is almost all DA. Where GDA falls short on talent is after those top picks.

Second - CA clubs and other states have always kicked azz vs here. Same on the boys side. The NE isn't a soccer power house. Great clubs out there with an amazing talent pool we can't come close to matching. Rarely having to worry about weather is an added bonus.

Third - regarding politics? Of course it's there. It's been there with BDA and the MNT for years and gee shocking! GDA too! We'd like to all be about the talent but it won't always be.

                      Psychos all.
A young lady from Douglas makes a nat’l squad and all you do is bitch and moan.

They probably don’t pick players from our area because of you all. Who’d want your kid on a team...

                      Congrats to PL.

Of course congrats to the player. I don't think offense was meant to the player. What is wrong with analyzing why ALL other players are from other regions? It is a legitimate question.

#1. Coaching/club management. #2. Player pool dilution in what is already a small player pool vs out west, south. CA, TX, FL players have dominated top college and NT rosters for years. This isn't a new development. Look at how local teams do on a national basis. Middle of the road at best.

DumbAzz, I was referring to the lack of regional on top tier player development. If you MA-TS threads it is all focus on getting players to college and there is nothing wrong with that. However, you also need to realize that focus has limited our ability to compete for NT spots. MA and the northeast region has as many registered players or more than some of the mid-Atlantic states yet we are not well represented. I can tell you it is not that our players’ pool are deluded but a lack of true player development. Blame JD at StarsMA and FM at Scropions for not selling us bad products. With the #s we have there should be no less than a dozen of players being involve with the NTs. And this goes for both the boys and girls side.

It is liberating for the NE consumers. Even though virtually zero players will be NT players, it is still used as a marketing ploy by clubs. This situation allows that ploy to be easily disregarded and the consumer can move on and hopefully base club choice on something more important.
