There's a long discussion in TS on prep schools and their benefits both academically and athletically. My guess is that it's a combination of both.

Of course it is likely both. NEFC likely helped the kids continue to play soccer at a reasonable high level, and the schools--both ISL schools--likely supported them and provided a good academic environment, coupled with solid ISL-level competition. That's why you see so many kids choosing to pursue the NEFC/ISL or GPS/ISL combination over pursuing playing in DA. On balance, the ISL kids do quite well in college admissions.

And in the case of a male player going to BC, regardless of what "credit" might be claimed, it is obvious that playing for NEFC helps a lot since you will be well known by the coach.

LOL @. 200k for the chance to play college soccer, where there is a high likelihood to be a complete bench warmer.

Anyways, still good for those kids. Obviously they are smart and decent soccer players too.

I like the private school vs DA strategy myself, other than the huge outlay of cash. Getting a quality education is a good plan.

That is your opinion, and your opinion alone. The value of a prep school is not simply entry into a top college. The foundation and preparation skills they learn will last them a lifetime.
So, don't be a brand name guy. Can your kid play D1?

I went to a mid tier public school. I think my "foundation and preparation skills" are pretty good, thank you.
