Only one of the D3 bound Bolts played academy this year. Almost all the others played academy for many years but were cut or moved down to ECNL this year to make room for Dan Colwells group.

      From GPS site:

"We are delighted to see that GPS will have alumni playing in the NCAA; 22 in D1, 24 in D2, 37 in D3 to date."

However, out of the "22 playing D1", only 7 are boys (33%) ...and they included a kid who played revs for the last four years and only came back for his last year to be with his buddies.

That explanation doesn’t make sense because it’s a small roster and his group was already on Academy, but good for those kids that they still landed somewhere. Now, you can go ahead with your point that you don’t need Academy to play D3. That’s your point, isn’t it?

I think the point is that D1 will basically get you into safety schools like BC and BU.

Most D1 schools are middling educational institutions.

I don’t care if my son plays D1, D2, or D3, but this has to be the dumbest comment ever. Stanford, Ivies, etc. are D1, dumbo. I guess your kid is playing D3, but you don’t have to work so hard to justify it. That’s great for him.

OP, please get through the GPS list. The thread is turning into nonsense. We need you to keep out the banter of the crazies.

Akron, UMass Lowell and whole host of other lower academic schools are D1 also.

And there is a whole host of lower academic D2 and D3 schools. You lost this argument. You should give it up. - not the OP

Think again. For the U 19 age group there were limited roster spots since they could only take 1999's and younger.

Point is academy had its share of weak players as does NPL and ECNL

You are correct except that you didn't mention one important thing.

Academy has much lower numbers of non-top 100 D1 school ( I prefer that term over "weak") players compared to ECNL and NPL.

D1 and D3 both have their fair share of weaker academic schools so it's not quite accurate to say one is clearly academically superior to the other. They also offer very different experiences and intensity of athletics. However, taken as a whole D2 is the weakest academically (there's a few good ones in there but not many).
