Take Brandeis as an example. The admit rate last year was around 33%. The 25th percentile SAT score was 1270 and the 75th percentile score was an impressive 1480!
There were 141 students that were admitted with SAT scores well below the 25th percentile benchmark.
Of those 141, roughly 10% were admitted with SAT scores hovering around 1000, if not below.
I wonder why those kids got in?

Lol. So Brandeis is cheating so it can build a soccer power. Thought it was all about education at that level.

Some years ago Penn reduced its admission standards slightly below other Ivies and it showed in their athletic performance. What was also surprising is that triggered higher general admissions numbers and donations to the school. Seems people want to go to a school with successful sports programs.

If that doesn’t happen then you might need to look at how realistic the goal is. A college coach gets evaluated on their win loss and if your kid can’t help them do that they will hardly get the time of day from them. Is that what you want for your kid or are you one of those delusional types that think you kid will break the mold.

Tufts admit rate = 14.2%
The 25th percentile SAT score is an astounding 1370! That's almost what the top 25% of students at Brandeis score. I had no idea until I just checked.
That being said, 111 kids had SAT's below 1100. That's 270 points lower than the bottom 25% demarcation point. At Tufts.
How does a student with sub-1100 SAT's get into a school with a 14.2% admit rate?

Insinuating that Brandeis is making academic concessions for athletes is just wrong because they don’t actually do that.
