    ludicrous statement....sort of

This list is still small and growing. For a better read check out the same threads for prior year commitments, but it has been a consistent theme. Where a player may be aiming for is very important to consider when deciding on DA or not. It's also helpful to look at rosters at schools a player may be interested in and see where players came from.

Your fist sentence is ludicrous or at least doesn't have any facts to support it. Without qualifying what the top D1 teams are. However, lets assume that you are referring to the top 20 and that most New England HS soccer players stay in New England, then we would have to look at Dartmouth and UNH. If you look at both squads you will find a balanced mix of foreigners, non-DA/ODP kids, and some DA kids. The two Dartmouth kids on the commitment list has 1 DA and 1 non DA. As for the list included in this thread, there are three more teams in the next 25 D1 ranked teams: Columbia, BC, and UML. On the list, of the four kids attending these schools only 1 is a DA player.

So, for New Englanders and New England schools there is no DA requirement.

Statistically, however, with 11 DA kids on this list from 30-40 DA players in Mass, statistically it would seem that you have a greater likelihood of playing D1 from a DA club than the 9 out of ? 250-300 NPL players. I am not sure where to place the Bayside Bolts kid.....

I was speaking in generalities, not just NE. Yes many kids will stay in the area so then there are fewer programs and even fewer "top" programs. But not all will want to stay in the area. Take a look at rosters at the top 25 programs and see where players come from. They're primarily DA, prep and internationals.

OP here. Although a half dozen New England teams are trying hard, let me first argue that none are consistent top 20 teams. Going back the past 4 seasons, I will analyze the National Powers MA kids have gone to. Even some of these teams haven't always been on top, but I think most will accept this list:

        Stanford
        Wake Forest
        Indiana
        Mich St
        UVA
        Louisville
        Syracuse
        Duke
        Georgetown

15 MA kids went to play soccer at these schools. Of those:

        7 were Revs
        5 were Bolts
        2 were Berkshire
        1 was GPS

I would note that of these 15, so far only 4 have played much, and 2 went to GA MLS and the other 2 battled for years and finally got on the field for the two bottom teams on this list. The jury is still out for half these kids. So you see DAP and Berkshire are the best way to this. Not sure it is smart to be sending more than 1 or 2/ season this way. This class so far seems to be avoiding this. I think that is smart.

We are both correct then depending on the hypothesis.
That said, for the kids it would depend on their goals.
If the goal was to get in a college, get a scholarship, and an education then any D1 school might suffice regardless of their ranking.
That being the case, you don't have to be a DA player.

If the goal is a top 20 D1 team....especially one not in NE (easier for NE coaches to watch a NE player) then being on the DA might be quite a bit better.

Why? Because the last few posts are true? No one is knocking kids or their choices. It's merely a discussion of how it works

Nah, it's probably some girls parent just causing trouble. Ignore them.

No trouble. It is true that if your target isn't top D1 DA isn't a necessity. Easier yes. Necessary no. These commitment threads have shown that every year. With more spots and fewer international players then GDA becomes even less of a necessity for girls wanting to play in college. There are far more roster spots than either BDA or GDA can ever fill. If DA is what players want and they can play for a good DA club then that's great. But that isn't always the case and many players have successfulcollege careers without DA.
