I knew things were a bit strange when i'd see profile views for my LinkedIn profile from employees of some of the same colleges that were talking to my kid. It is like they were screening to predetermine whether my title meant we'd need $ or not.

They check all social media of kids and parents. Maybe for money reasons but also to make sure the kid and parents aren’t d-bags in their personal and professional lives.

I think it's more related to dollars. The majority of the Stars parents can afford prep schools - so their kids go to BBN, Nobles, etc. If your kid is playing prep, college coaches know you can afford high priced schools. This is not the case for a large portion of other teams, where kids need or want money to play in college. The Stars kids do get great connections with higher priced schools, but I would doubt their average % of tuition received is as high as other non-Stars teams.

Say what you want about Stars, but the model works for people with dough. That same model might be more challenging at NEFC or Scorpions.

NEFC, SSS, Stars (not sure about Scorpions) has 3/4 of their 2007 GA/ECNL players either in expensive private schools or going to school in rich towns like Hingham, Weston, etc.

Face it, most soccer families can afford to cover most of college, or readily afford the all of the partial bill they'd get with typical athletic and merit scholarships. They won't qualify for financial aid.

Lol same. Kids socials are more often checked than parents, but they also ask club coaches about the parents. There's plenty of players out there so they don't have to tolerate troublesome players OR their parents.

Stars Blue has great placements but can't even compete in their own conference. How is that possible? Is it a case of the club helps the placement and no one ever checks later on to see if the kids are playing, transferring, quitting from these top programs? Just seems weird that Stars Blue is a 4th place team but has better commits than World Class or SUSA. EItehr the club is pushing kids to schools they dont belong at or the STars coaching is incapable of managing their roster and coming up with strategies to be a successful team.

Stars is a business that wants to make as much money as possible. They push players to bigger schools selling them that they are good fits when they clearly are not. If they were that caliber of player —-they’d be able to at least win and qualify for playoffs in their own league.

Clemson is a great school academically and clearly a top D1 soccer program.
