For all the hate for Stars White on this board, Scorpions and NEFC are happy to take their cuts.

You mean kids switch teams between Stars, NEFC, Scorpions, etc. No way!

I was looking at 2007 roster sizes for the GA & ECNL teams:

        Stars White- 21
        Stars Blue- 20
        Scorpions- 20
        NEFC- 19

if the game day limit is 18, how is this handled? Couple years younger than 2007, but looks like roster size increases as the girls get into HS ages.

If everyone is healthy, players 19+ don’t dress.

Thank you. Is it the same 1-3 players sitting every week, or does it rotate? And if so what’s it based upon, practice performance for the week?

Once you hit u16, everything is based on performance. Even if players are part of the 18, there’s no guarantee that they will play.

This is not the case at showcases (games don’t count in league standings). Everyone plays as close to equal time as possible. Still can only dress 18 per game, but it would never be the same players sitting for an entire showcase (unless they opted to stay home).

Also—by the HS ages, injuries tend to increase, so there will likely be situations where there are only 18 (or fewer) healthy.

My D was on a team with 20 rostered players. Before the season started we were told 2 different kids would sit every week to get t8. It never happened, injuries and conflicts fixed the problem organically. I’ll also disagree on showcase games getting equal time, I’ve seen some pretty unbalanced time. Some games coaches are playing to win more than others. They may start a game with good intentions but its certainly not a given your D will get 50% of every game

I think it would be pretty hard to get 20 on any given game day where someone isn’t injured, sick, etc.

If a coach is keeping players on the bench at a showcase (where the games have no impact on league standings), then you’re with the wrong coach/club. League games and playoffs are a completely different situation.

Those roster sizes are the rule, not the exception. Some as high as 22. There's often players missing as discussed. Also with 2 games per travel weekend most coaches will make sure anyone who didn't dress before does for the next game. It usually works out.

But yes this is about performance. Players should get meaningful PT but do not ever expect equal. Starting and PT is earned. If your kid can't deal with that they're never going to survive playing in college

Agreed. Most coaches seem to do their best. Getting players in front of coaches is a big part of their jobs. Parents will raise holy hell if their kid travels for a showcase and plays 10 minutes

But don’t showcases still have roster size limits? Pretty sure ECNL is 18.

Only league games have a 18 player cap. Showcases do not. Players that don't get as much PT generally need to discuss with their club coach if they'll be primarily play 1st or 2nd half. Same with GKs. They need to tell college coaches when they can be seen. College coaches rarely stay for a exile game. They have too many other players to see.

That is 100% incorrect. You can only have 18 dress for showcases.

League showcases allow only 18. Local showcases like Stars or NEFC allow more.
