08 thread is crazy! They also had a scorpions parent belittling one of their own goalies for not going to every practice on page 1 or 2 of the thread. That was very bad! That was a little crazy in my book, as well as grandpa select. Between scorpions dad and select grandpa the goalie thing needs to stop.

For the record, it was a Select parent talking about the practice issue. Wouldn't want that stink to be assigned to the wrong club.

No one has said anything bad YET. Unfortunately, discussing individual players will lead to critiques of those players, even if they are meant to be constructive or instructive. It starts with something benign like, “I wonder how tall she’ll be” or “I hope she keeps working on her distribution skills” or “I thought she was really good as a shot stopper” and eventually morphs into something terrible. There will ultimately be questions or comments about her defense, her decision making, her athleticism, her intelligence and so on.

Don’t go there - ever.

GK are always a target of parent anger, most times unjustified. They can't their little Emily made a mistake that led to the shot the GK can't possibly stop. If you hear a parent yammering on about a GK stay away. Not only so they know little about the game but they will talk about tour kid behind tour back also.

If your kid isn’t in the starting 11 at ECNL, there is always a chance they are a placeholder. It’s just the way it is. Especially with the unpredictability going on with GA.

This wouldn’t be much of a problem if parents were realistic about their kids level of play. My son played Revs back in the day and it was the same thing there. Kids came and went every year.

But, this is the problem with the competition between clubs and leagues. Too many are not realistic. They think because their kid is in XYZ league they have it, and will always have it.

That's why ECNL is great. It's always competition to make the team and stay there. You are never settled and safe. Exactly like college.

I see why many hate it though. They don't like thee competition.

But if your kid makes it at U14 and can stay there until U19, they are probably a very good player.
