It’s all about the talent you are born with and the desire to play and maximize it. League gives you a platform to be seen if you want to play in college, some platforms are better than others for exposure. Coaches show kids how to use and maximize their ability, but coaches don’t develop or create ability, you either have it or you don’t.

some people are lucky to be born with natural ability. others develop by hard work, desire and coaching. there are many examples in pro sports of overachievers and underachievers.

The people you see as overachievers in pro sports have way more natural ability than a normal person. No amount of hard work/training can make you into a pro without the natural ability. If it could, a far greater percentage of players would make it, plenty of kids put in the work.

It's much easier to rely on natural gifts up until about HS / end of puberty. Then success becomes much more about mental toughness and putting in the training hours. No lore coasting if you want to reach the college level
