You are way off. Check Stars instagram. Stars Blue is crushing Stars White in the TP juggling contests. It’s not even close. Several SPOL players have submitted their TP videos instead of formal tryouts.

The SPOL kids are pretty good, but I cannot handle the yelling parents in the background. Rumor is GPS red is doing well, they don’t know where to send the videos. Stars White can claim victory over Stars Blue after a weekend of TP juggling. And Stars Blue, well, apparently their coach didn’t make it mandatory - not what you’d expect for an ECNL toilet paper challenge.
Honestly all were pretty good, I’m wondering if I really need to drive to New Jersey for some Charmin or Cottonelle when I can just get Market Basket brand without all the travel.

I see that all the ECNL and PreDA kids using that expensive Charmin 3ply toilet paper. Let's see them juggle with the 1ply sandpaper the NPL kids are using!

This whole situation has made me do a lot of thinking about the state of youth soccer here in MA. My daughter has played on a “list team” for four years now, U10-U13. During that time she has become friendly with girls on several of the other top teams and I’ll make a point to have a quick chat with the opposing team’s parents whenever I’m able. If you think about it, it’s been a lot of the same kids who we’ve seen over the course of the past four years.
The last couple weeks have given me a chance to step back and realize how ridiculous it is that the next time these kids take the field (fall 2020), the ECNL, DA & NPL teams will no longer play each other at U14, other than the occasional tournament. Think about that. NEFC DA cant play Stars ECNL. Select DA cant can’t play Scorpions ECNL. GPS Red, SPOL & Aztec can’t play any of the ECNL & DA teams.
In the very few games that were actually played this spring, Stars played teams from PA, Scorpions & NEFC played NJ teams and Select played a NH team. Not one single game played between the 8 list teams. Not one. That is absurd.
There are more than enough teams in New England for a rock solid U13 league.
Stars Blue ECNL
Stars White ECNL
Scorpions ECNL
CFC ECNL
FSA ECNL
Oakwood DA
NEFC DA
Select DA
Seacoast DA
Aztec NPL
SPOL NPL
GPS Red NPL
FCUSA NPL
Ginga (CT) EDP
That’s 14 teams who would give each other a meaningful game any day of the week all within 2.5 hours from down town Boston. Youth soccer is a disaster, and if this pandemic doesn’t reset things, nothing ever will.
I sincerely hope everyone who follows this thread is healthy and hasn’t been crushed financially because of this mess.

Love the sentiment, but nothing will change. Big $ controls youth sports. Not even this pandemic will reset that.

Best we can hope for is a Regional Championship that would bring these New England teams together. But how to do that? One way is start with USSF. Tell them to stop competing as another exclusive league and figure out how to become a unifying agent.
Lots of low hanging fruit. Shutter DA, clarify role of ODP, create Regional and National Championships with incentives to drive club participation.

1. First step would be to cancel GDA. Was a horrible idea to begin with. That would leave all these teams in two leagues ECNL & NPL.
2. Expand ECNL to include 2-3 more NE clubs.
3. Have a true state cup tournament where all the teams play each other. That plus the 3-4 big New England tournaments every year would at least give us a bunch of ECNL v NPL matchups of the local teams. Stars Labor Day, CFC Columbus Day, GPS Thanksgiving, etc.
4. Have a revamped ODP/YNT pool systems where the top 15-20 girls from each geographic area of the country come together to find the true unicorns, who then go on to a 40 person national camp.
