Here’s what we’ve got for this weekend for our top 6:

Select & SOL- Opposite sides of the bracket at the CFC Columbus Day tournament. Few other good teams playing in that event as well. Meet up in the final? Maybe.

FC Stars ECNL (White)- FCUSA Coastal cup against a few solid NPL teams.

Scorpions, NEFC & FC Stars (Blue) on vacation. Someone schedule some pick up games for these three.

A little break mid season will do them good

Select has the much tougher draw. Match Fit, CFC North & Ginga are no gimmies.

SOL just has Aztec to worry about. Oakwood & Galway won’t beat SOL.

Can any of you who have a 2007 girl in either ECNL or pre-DA (DA next year) provide an honest assessment of how you like either of those platforms so far?

We don’t love the NPL/NEP experience. Thank you in advance.

I think SOL a bit too high in the overall ranking, Aztecs going to get them by 3 goals. Going to need to adjust the list after this tournament. That includes FC Stars white... couple NPL teams I'd pick over them right now.

Let's hear all the ECNL/DA love... I doubt you'll find anyone that doesn't think it was worth it.

NEGDL, doing it because the club joined our team into this league. Didn't really have much in terms of detail before the season was starting. Can't say it is super groundbreaking but the games have been pretty good and we only have had one "travel" weekend for the fall. How friendly the scheduler is would make a big impact on how you feel about the league IMO.

Beat SOL, make the final and beat who comes out of the other side and then we will consider Aztec worthy of discussion.

If you are interested in ECNL & DA you only have four choices, NEFC, Select, Scorpions & FC Stars. Based upon the results this year, all four clubs have strong "top" teams. For most families in MA i'm assuming anywhere between 1-3 of those programs is not drivable depending upon where you live. Your choices get narrowed pretty quick. For us, anything over 45 minutes each way is too far.

As far as the NEGDL goes, Select & NEFC have been playing each other since U10, so we didn't need this league for those games. We played Seacoast as well. The rest of the teams are comparable to the teams who were in the top premiership bracket of NEP the last couple years. Its just more driving without better competition. NYSC, Albertsons & STA are not better teams than GPS Boston or Spirit of Liverpool. Oakwood is worse.

No. If you are along the CT boarder you could play at the CT teams (in either ECNL or DA), if you are along the north shore you could play at Seacoast (DA). Those drives would be easier to make from those areas than those you mentioned.

Geography rules the day. If you are on the South Shore Select is your closest option.
Scorpions is drivable from the South Shore to Rhode Island. West of Boston and it’s NEFC or Stars. North Shore is Stars and potentially Seacoast.

12 year olds shouldn’t be driving more than an hour for league games.

What makes an hour the magic number?

I set the limit at 65 minutes.

Are you willing to share why you're not happy with NPL? We are not thrilled either.

While there is a disparity between the best and the worst in all leagues, we found the worst in NPL to be really, really bad.

And, the best were leaving so it's a case of leave or be left behind...
