So, if they aren’t better than players being recruited from outside the club, it’s safe to say regional teams are a money grab, correct? What would be the point of playing on a regional team?

You enjoy playing soccer and like the Club. There should be a level for every kid that wants to play. Every team at every level in a sense is a money grab, it’s pay to play.

You do realize some of these kids are driving an hour plus to practice in Lancaster? Tell me why they would choose this money grab over a money grab closer to where they live?

Why do you care how people spend their time or money or know how far people are driving for RL teams? Picking a Club is an individual choice. If some are chasing an ECNL slot, that’s their choice whether realistic or not.

I wouldn’t personally make that drive for a RL team, but why would I care if others do?

For Stars, their regional teams are technically C and D teams. Are college coaches really going to attend these showcases to pick up a C and D level of player? Come on now. Let’s use of thinking caps here.

Every club has a B team, and most have C and D teams as well. This is actually a good thing as it provides an environment where even those who love to play but may not be naturally gifted athletes can get more than just the "town soccer" experience.

The money grab comes when it's time to fill an open spot on the A roster and a club chooses to fill it with an outside player when there is a comparable player on the B roster....or a spot on the B roster when there is a comparable player on the C, etc. in their system. They choose the new money over the money they already have in the bank at the expense of the player.

Verdict- Two mid table clubs. Nothing wrong with that. Pick the best coach and closest ride.
