just heard that select backed out of next weekends game against NEFC. NEFC dad is that true that select doesn't want to play NEFC??

Must be getting ready for their friendlies Thanksgiving weekend against some town teams. The club has definitely taken a step back this year and it seems they might be a tad afraid of playing an actual good 07 team. Sad, especially for being so expensive.

Not NEFC dad, but yes games cancelled on Halloween between NEFC and SSS. No idea why.

never said ECNL schedule... just said competitive games prob referring to against the MA ENCL teams

No idea about SPOL or Bayside but i highly doubt Aztec would lose to Blue regional.

Unfortunately, because my daughter plays on a team that played in that disaster friendly for Columbus Day-YUK!, I was forced to sit thru an 07 Aztec game before my daughter's game and from what I saw the 07 Aztec team wouldn't come close to beating the 3 best...08 teams- NEFC, Stars and Surf let alone any 07 teams. As average as SSS 07 GA is now, Aztecs didn't put up a fight against SSS.

This shouldn't really matter to anyone. If Aztec parents don't think their kids are developing then they should move to another club or another coach. If they do think their kids are developing then losing to SSS or any other club doesn't matter. The whole problem with this thread is parents who have become fans of their daughter's club - as if the club or the wins/losses of their team say something about their daughter's soccer prowess. Surprise! They don't. Too many parents have a club logo stuck on the back of their car - literally and figuratively.

GA is not going anywhere. They should fix the issues with HS play (the silly 10 month schedule) and just revise their revenue projections based on losing some kids for a few months. These clubs have set up their league pretty effectively but they need to just take what is working and what isnt and pivot where necessary. Will it be equal to/better than ECNL? not any time soon but for many kids it is a solid option and i actually hope those teams improve and we get more open tournaments where we play each other (my kid is ecnl).

Agree. Don't care about patches. Don't care about "my club is better than your club". Just don't care. If another league/club/team was better for my daughter I'd have no issue switching. I'd actually prefer there to be another viable option or two. Right now all it takes is finding yourself with a coach your kid doesn't connect with and you're in a bit of a pickle at this level.

Here is another take. The landscape would be better off if it were only ECNL, ECNL Regional League & EDP. That would concentrate the top players in the two ECNL platforms and would strengthen EDP & EDP national league at the top end. It would also reduce travel for the rest of EDP. Merging GA, DPL and the top EDP conference would provide a very nice platform. The vast majority of kids don’t need the extensive travel that ECNL requires.

Ha, well would you look at that. In a thread that is SOLELY a discussion about results, with all teams/clubs/leagues graded on results (seen or unseen), with opinions about such teams/clubs/leagues very vehemently held close to your hearts, that's an extremely odd thing to say.

Go back and look at all the commentary about all the teams/clubs/leagues across the country, of which 99% of them are unseen, and see how that aligns with your comment. This entire thread is about nothing but results!

I'd be ok with something like that if they added a couple more ECNL clubs to create some choice. I'm not hung up on the concern that some have about talent being "watered down" by additional leagues. If everyone is in the same boat that is only really relevant for the NT and maybe kids who want to play pro. But that is so few, particularly on the girls side, it effectively doesn't matter. I'd rather make sure there are a couple of viable options and not get hung up on the talent pool being watered down. I think you can accomplish both but only if you added more teams so players have some choice even in the same geographic area.

I guess I made an incorrect assumption when the power rankings came out. I thought those were based on results, but I guess it's based on a weekly report on player development.
