So what should happen here in NE? Take SSS, NEFC, Seacoast & Oakwood and make a strong NPL division with good local teams and limited travel. I would be on board with that.
But what do the clubs do? Invent a new league that is a poor knockoff of ECNL, don’t discuss it with their paying customers, and expect us to just fall in line? The pre-DA league was awful competition. This new version will be worse if the top players jumped to ECNL. Am I the only one not buying this? You will not see a “GAL” magnet on the back of my car.

From what I’ve seen at my D’s club, a few top DA players were offered spots and potentiall pushed some existing players to another team, but again, no guarantees .Coaches have been clear, once play starts again, it will be about who is actually performing on the field. Everyone will have to earn those spots, no different than any other year.

The rest are filler for whatever teams are left. No club is guaranteeing a spot on a team right now. Contract language is clear you can be moved down for not performing.

Early offers went out to a percentage of kids for the top ecnl team at her club. We were 100% clear in our conversations with the coach about what that means and what her role will be. If you ask the right questions you will get the answers. Might not like every answer, but would prefer that to not being on the same page.
