What showcases did Aztec do last year? How was the club in encouraging the players to contact coaches and invite them to see them play? Unless the player is a total stud, even at Stars Blue the players have to take some of the responsibility themselves to engage prospective coaches. Sounds like the failure of the club to not be involved in the recruiting process.

Anyone else, who isn't a lazy putz, can look in the soccer app or elsewhere and see the tournaments they played this year. Jeff Cup, PDA, some local tournaments, the various playoffs that you've been discussing so intently here. They were planning to win the big Penn Fusion tournament that was cancelled due to weather, and then it was too late to just go win SUSA so missed doing a big preseason tournament.

Finishing middle of the second bracket at the Jeff Cup is just not that impressive. Perhaps Aztec has a distorted view of themselves. It happens when you play week competition . Everyone on the team looks like a star.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. I think Aztec is both a better team than the haters on this page give them credit for and at the same time, not quite as good as they think. They are very much carried by a couple of key players.

That’s true in the sense that those players make the difference of whether a competitive game ends with their team +1-2 or -1-2.

But of course, those key players don’t get enough scoring opportunities, and a team concedes too many goals, if they don’t have a complete set of strong players around those “key players.”
