Also a great achievement because they, for the most part, were the best team in a fairly even competition. I would say NPL is next in line, but from there too close to tell.
Except there has been no ECNL or ECNL national championship at U13, so I guess at that age the NPL Nationals would be the biggest with USYS behind that.

Ecnl is afraid to play other leagues because those frauds will be found out. Then the coaches and parents can't tell everyone how great their kids are.

Plenty of pre-ECNL teams at the NPL championship.

Right, exactly the point. At U13, currently the NPL Championship is the biggest league based national championship because it's filled with both top NPL teams and top Pre-ECNL teams.

Starting next year however ECNL expands to U13 so it now gets a bit more watered down like the older ages.

Any team that wins a final tournament comprised of teams that earned a berth from qualifiers spanning the entire country is winning A national championship. This is not disputable. The winning team has won the X National Championship and is therefore the X National Champion.

It doesn't matter if it is USCS, NPL, Special, Assistive, or ECNL. No one could or should claim to be "Best in the Country" as that is always up for debate. What is not debatable is that they won A national championship. Congratulations!

True except for this particular "national championship" I am not sure how teams qualified. Speaking to some parents from opposing teams, they weren't sure how they qualified for this tournament. I don't know if many State Cup winners dropped out and they had to fill in. Also, not many teams from the West or South. Not sure if they don't have State Cup? But there definitely wasn't National representation.

aaargh!!! why does everything have to be about girls soccer??

While ECNL may be the top league, it is quite likely that the DAP will move ahead of NPL. For the boys, the DAP is #1, but the ECNL might move ahead of NPL in similar fashion.

In fact, I might even put US Youth Soccer with its four regions and national championship (starting today) ahead of NPL. At least the US Youth Soccer tournaments and titles are national and based on regional tournaments, whose winners progress.

                NPL/NEP is fading

All said, aside from the DAP for the boys and the ECNL for the girls, both of which are well attended by college coaches and national team reps I am not sure what the value is of all the other self-claimed national championships....other than for the clubs to advertise

Unless you win the World Cup, the rest of it is superfluous...

JMHO, I was at both events in Indiana over the last two weekends. The NPL Championship definitely felt bigger/more prestigious with more scouts/coaches. The qualification path was more clear (win your NPL league) and with a few exceptions, the competition better. Both were fun events and both can definitely be considered National Championship events, but if we had to pick only one for my kids team to attend, I would go with the NPL Championship. Even though my kid's team did better at the National Cup.

Hey, it might not be the "top championship" event but it's still a good event, my kids' team played some good teams they'd never play, kids were jazzed to be playing, well run, great complex, jammed in a college visit and went the Brickyard race at Indy....all good.

For now, the ECNL champion is THE NATIONAL CHAMPION,on the girls side. thats not up for debate, theres no other side of that argument. The Patriots are world champions because they WON the top league in the world. They dont need to play the CFL, or the european football league. The winner of the World Cup is the WORLD champion, even though they never play an MLS team or an EPL team. The best clubs put their top teams in ECNL. the winner is the National Champion. The kids know, Ask your daughter, she knows. I know you dont LIKE it, but that doesnt change the facts.
