This regime are desperate to show how they can "develop" players. That means some negative selection vs old stereoptypes. Just look at the number of smallish players getting a lot of exposure. The prototypical pacey athletic player has a hard time getting through at present, not matter how much the produce at Club level.

Smith is one player and if you notice, she was not touted like the others. The fact is she has "played" her way in thru sheer volume of goals. Unlike others she was not pushed straight into the U-20s was she?

At some point they cannot ignore International production.

Howell is not that athletic. And Smith is really not that pacey.

Smith is all pace. Pick the ball off a defender and race to the goal. She comes out first in the race more often than not.
Howell is big and strong. Poor skiil. Not fast. The big and strong is the athletic part

Wasnt really impressed , FC Dallas appeared to be much more physical and stars lacked quality touches. NEFC had the better of both teams but had a tough loss.

they are still a better team and club. JD will have 1000 excuses!! heard they had several opportunities at the end but could not finish. Had no one to possess the ball in the middle and were physically outplayed!

I also watched the live feed,Dallas left back worked harder and wanted it more.Defense caught sleeping beginning of 2nd half to tie.A handball in box non call late in 2nd half didn't help Stars.Couldve went either way .

There are no excuses needed for getting to the National championship game in the TOP league with the TOP teams in the US. It's a long season, a tough grind and alot of things happen along the way. You still have to play. Great job by the girls that were still standing at the end.

NEFC/Breakers parent here... I agree. The Stars team made it to the finals, none of our teams did. Trying to diminish the accomplishments of a competing club is infantile. I was hoping my daughter's team would have gotten this far. Congratulations to the girls on a great effort.
