    npl vs nep

what is the difference between nep and npl?
If one club has 2 teams (for the same age bracket), each playing in one of the two leagues, which one is considered a higher tier team?
    TIA

I believe the order is NEP, NPL, ECNL (best).

Generally NPL and ECNL pull from all of the NEP teams. If there are 12 NEP teams in an age group at a club at u12, the top regional players will leave their NEP team to play NPL or ECNL. This makes a strong NPL or ECNL team because it has the best players from many regions. Sometimes lightning strikes a region and a strong group of players gets good development, is winning, and opts to stay together as a team. These teams can sometimes compete with many NPL teams. This is a rare occurrence but those top NEP teams can be close to some NPL teams.

The season will have to play itself out as far as Stars goes. Many of the current players elected to stay ECNL and NPL and did not opt to even try out for DA. On paper it may look as though DA at the top but based on who is playing very much an unknown a this time.

Oh I think it's clear Stars ECNL with be top team, and DA secondary. What remains to be seen is how quickly DA pulls their license.

DA for Stars will be their third team in some age groups. We've heard of many ECNL and NPL players opting to stay where they are instead of moving to DA. Some kids coming from outside are not top level players.

Who cares any more. All you can do is look around, hold your nose and choose one. If you play ecnl on a strong team, you will have to compete against the teams from where ecnl is weak. If you get on a strong da team, you still have to compete against the weak da teams. So much time energy and money for very inconsistent league environment.

No significance anymore to the competitions. Just too many of them. Blech.😤

Amen brother - too many leagues and not enough talent to fill them. Water water every where and not a drop to drink

Or... the glass is half full and there's a lot of talent scattered among all of the leagues. If girls find a good environment with a coach and teammates they like they don't see the need to leave.

Win loss records lose significance in wildly inconsistent leagues which is maybe a good thing. But some of these leagues require heavy travel. What would be the point of that?

What it will come down to is the same thing that used to happen in Maple 8 years ago and back - certain teams become the 'destination' now it's Just 3 leagues to choose from.

                        - DA if your kids HS is weak and at least a dozen HS teams or up to 20 if you believe the Globe are very good place to be if you are a stand-out or even bottom 1/2 BBA DA or Stars Ecnl, with FCB picking up some ground from this but not much I'll wager.

                        - NPL strengthens across the boards at all non Ecnl/Da clubs. BBA 2nd team in NPL comparable (most likely) to other 1st team NPLs.

                        - NEP really doesn't change.

The biggest change will be goal differentials for league leading teams and the spread between the top 1 or 2 MA Teams in any given league and the next closest - blowouts will be more common again. Top teams will look better and draw more future talent and it's all good news if your kid is.

If there are 2 very good teams in an age group for a club can they have 2 teams in Npl? Someone said the top 4 teams from the top nep bracket can move up to npl.

Yes, go back and look at that pyramidand read about the NPL. Top teams from NEP will be promoted into NPL for the following year. That could be from any club, including clubs that already have a designated NPL team. However, they can also be relegated the following year if they finish at the bottom of their bracket. The do not get permanent residency.
