I'm sure the Scorpions and Rovers would like to improve if they could find the players. The United team has the luxury of having a pretty good team as it's second team.
    What does this mean?

      One was invited and declined.

When they were the Bolts, one left for the United and 3 or 4 have gone from the United to the Rovers.

Two from the United have also gone to the Scorps (I think only one remains) and one from the Scorps is with the United, via the now U17 Stars.

United lot this weekend now there's a goalie controversy on another thread. Those people are heartless.

A lot of them are propped up by the better players. It shows when they play the better teams.
Stars U has actually been playing quite well this year and remain one of the top teams in the country. If history is any guide, there will be minimal (1 or 2 players) change to the roster going into next year.

Losing in Semis at Regionals met expectations.

Not sure what Stars team you're talking about. Stars 16 United didn't make the semis at regionals last year. Also not sure if this means this met your expectations?

At the beginning of the year, there are a few teams in this state that set winning a USYSA national championship as one of their goals. Obviously it is a lofty expectation, but it is legitimately attainable. The Stars United 16s and Scorpions U16s are two of those teams. So yes, if they fail to win the title, they have not met an expectation. Same goes for the R1 championship, Premier League play-offs and state cup. But there should be nothing wrong with setting high, but legitimate, expectations for players and teams. That is one of the important ways to get better. We all get better by setting goals, working to achieve them and if we fail, learning from that failure. I think most coaches will tell you that it is impossibe to maintain consistent improvement without some failure, either as a team or individual. Teams like the Stars United and Scorpions have had plenty of success but they do lose games and don't always win evry league or tournament that they enter - no one does. However, so long as they learn from the experience and continue on with their efforts to be the best... who cares?

If an answer is posted here then there will be a barrage of criticism, either for not meeting "expectations" with a full squad or for over practicing players so that they are injured (as we know these things never ever happen in games) or for making excuses.

United lost on PKs. Give them a break. Their only potential area of weakness is at goal and D. They'll have that fixed before state cup.
